Exactly what does the "Personal Attention" benefit listed as a Gold member entail?

I assume this is replacing the welcome amenity. This will be interesting to see. I know that people often complained about the previous gold benefit of a welcome amenity. I’ve been reasonably happy with what was offered in the past noting that it varies significantly across hotels. I’m going back to one of my favourite hotels, St Moritz at Queenstown, shortly and will be sure to report on what personal attention/welcome amenity is offered.

Heading to Queenstown at the end of October and still need about a dozen night to keep Accor Platinum. The St Moritz looks very nice and am tossing up between it and the Sofitel. Have you stayed in both or have any recommendations?

I’ve only stayed at the St Moritz. I found it very agreeable. Slightly out of town so a bit quieter and great views across the lake.

My parents own some units in the property next door to the St Moritz, so while I haven't stayed there I can vouch that the view is stupendous and it's only slightly out of the main town. Certainly not as far out as the laughable Hilton. There is a hill that you will need to walk up at the end of the night, but this can be quite useful for working off whatever you have consumed in town.

The Sofitel on the other hand is in the middle of the town, but it is a low floor hotel and as such doesn't really have much of a view. It can also get quite shady in its location, whereas the St Moritz gets some good sun, when it's shining.

I've got a booking at the Sofitel Melbourne next week. What Gold Welcome Amenity might I possibly expect?

Just back from another great stay at St Moritz Queenstown. As gold member I still received a welcome amenity (cookies) and drink vouchers.

Had my first stay at Sofitel on Collins for my birthday. iBis Business Gold.
Received frequent "Thanks for your Loyalty" spiel, but received Upgrade from Club room to Corner Junior Suite, 2pm Late checkout, 2x Beer, Red or White wine card at the Atrium bar for status perks.

Welcome bottle of $30 Tasmanian sparkling & Macaron plate as a Birthday/Welcome gift.
Aside from lack of Pool/Spa facilities Very happy with my stay

St Moritz more boutique, much better restaurant, nice outdoor hot tubs. Make sure you use status to get a lake view room otherwise you overlook road/driveway.

Sofitel has exec lounge, right in town, I think all rooms have spas.

Stayed at both multiple times and both are excellent.

Anyone know when the new program is launching? Seems the updates have dried up over the last few months with the last in August..

Despite it being listed as an eligible expense for points accrual under Accor program general conditions, check first before deciding to indulge in more of your favourite tipple than normal.

You need to charge those to your room to get the points.

That is also my understanding and the way we have always done it.
On another note I’ve often wondered why points earnt at Sofitel credit usually the next business day or 2 days at worst whilst Novotel and Pullman in particular can take up to a week to credit.

I never have problems at the bar. In fact, I never have point issues at Melbourne, but recently I have lots of issues with Brisbane and Darling Harbour where only my restaurant and bar spent are recorded and not my room charges.

Anyone heard anything about what the invitation status will be? I just qualified for "Diamond", but I have some private trips coming up and wondering if I am going to use my points or not. I would like to use up some of my points if I know I am not going to be close :).

Well, I've heard the invite only status will be called Limitless, but have no idea about who will be invited. There will be 3,000 or so members.

I don't think it added much above Diamond. And Diamond didn't add much above Platinum.

I don't know if the Invitation only status will be available just through your stays. It's a bit murky how they will do it.

First stay where I have just qualified for "Diamond" next year. I would say there might be a few unpublished benefits on top of what's published. I know I am a "regular" in this hotel since 2011. However, service received this stay was absolutely amazing in terms of personal attention and freebies.

Staff knows me by name, and remembers my regular orders from previous stays. Extras were given to me like amuse-bouche whilst having a drink at the bar, and a dessert platter on another occasion.

Spoke to the manager at the club and they have been briefed of the new tiers and their benefits. Basically the invitation only tier is going to be called Limitless as previously mentioned by another member, and in her words "they pretty much get anything they want". So I would say a lot of perks will be pretty much unpublished. However, she doesn't know what the exact criteria is, as they will be selected by Accor. So, I am not surprised if it's going to be like a Chairman's Club thing where it may be a DYKWIM - and of course, I am just speculating.

Do you know if Diamond members will get a soft downgrade to Platinum or not the following year?
I’ve qualified for Platinum again and with a couple more stays still left this year I’ll end up being comfortably over but will be hard to retain for the following year as we have 6 weeks in the US where Accor is quite scarce. I’m hoping for an invitation to Diamond status so that the following year I can soft land back to Platinum

New system switched on today?? triggered automatic conversion of my points to Qantas.....which I had switched off months ago......and cannot login. Off to a great start
