Hi everyone

I have been Platinum member and an Accor Advantage Plus member for years.

My membership anniversary used to be every September and this year, while still being Platinum, I was short 300 points to obtain Gold.

I didn't pay much attention as I was sure that Accor had airlines-style soft landing... Until I logged in and found myself to have "obtained" Silver

Just wanted to make everyone is aware that Accorhotels don't have soft landing. Regardless of how many years you have been platinum, if you haven't stay/earn enough nights/points then you could find yourself down to Blue level....

I believe the huge drop might be because of the program changes that kicked in on 1/1/17.
Due to Accor+ you are still a silver.

They were kind enough to ignore the fact that I was short few hundred points and kept me as Gold, instead of silver. Although I had a coming booking few days after the call, so I suppose they knew I was going to earn the necessary points for gold anyway.

On the bright side, due to the new program changes, I'll get to keep gold until December 2017

I somehow managed to scrape into Accor Gold after dropping from Platinum.

Don't think I'll get very far with the recent changes.

Something odd going on. I've usually only got enough stays to obtain Gold. However last year I took out an AMEX Plat card and was bumped to Platinum, with Accor+ thrown in.

As AMEX and Accor have parted ways, I was resigned to dropping back to Gold at my anniversary in December. However early in that month I noticed annotation on my account to the effect "the status you have this year will be maintained through 2017". I don't know when that appeared.

Of course the execrable regular Accor web site is playing up again, but I'll try later to get a screenshot to get the actual wording. The Accor Plus site says:

Sorry, your member level does not allow to login

Maybe my AccorPlus has been revoked because of AMEX situation. No big loss; phone application confirms I am still Plat (whew).

Not sure if that helps the OP, but there seems to be something inconsistent going on.

No - same message as yesterday. However gratifyingly, I was able to log into accor's site and it makes the situation a bit clearer:

AccorPlus obviously expired on my anniversary date, due to AMEX's no longer giving me that. I'm still Plat with Accor, but the message about continuing status gained last year into 2017 has disappeared.

Funny that I didn't get any messages inviting me to re-join AccorPlus (with my own $$). I wouldn't have, as with my travel patterns, coupled with the all too frequent 'black-out' dates doesn't make it worthwhile.

I must say Accor Plat stus is worth having if you are going to stay with them. I have a few reservations in place, but as I probably won't even make Gold for next year with the new arrangements, I'll be shifting over to one of the other AMEX gifted chains, with status.

Trust me ...the Accor Plus telemarketing staff will hunt you down ...no stone will be unturned!

If you do decide to return to the fold be sure to get a referral from one of us.

some days i am loving the Accor Plus ...like last night at the Sofitel Sydney huge savings ...and others not (like the renewal cost which keeps climbing! though i seem to convince myself that the 'free' stay makes it worth it or is at least 200$) ...but yes, Platinum is everything in this program ...without it the Plus also diminishes in shine.

Old referral thread here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....tels/accor-advantage-plus-referral-57243.html

The 'advantage' is to the referrer (i always think of myself first!).

a) Bottle of wine
b) if you are 'lucky' enough to get 5 referals in a 2 week period your membership is free the following year

What's the advantage of getting a referral from someone from here?

Just as a reference, no hotel program that I know of has a soft landing. It is a feature of some airlines, and not even all of those.

I think I made a huge mistake. Had the exact same error message and the exact some dates/status as you displayed in that screenshot. Called up and they told me the error was due to not renewing Accor plus and so I said go ahead and renew it. Logged in this morning and am now back at Silver. Should have left it.
