Scenario: Flying as WP Melbourne to LAX on QF arriving 0630 at TBIT and then departing on WestJet to Vancouver at 1100 that same morning. Question: is it possible somehow to stay airside in TBIT to access the QF lounge at all prior to leaving later in the morning to WestJet (with a QF ticket and QF flight number) from terminal 2 ? I'm anticipating hand luggage only if that helps. Thanks very much all. Otherwise any general comments on lounge access gratefully received.

LAX allows pax to enter any terminal with a boarding pass for that day. So you can get back into TBIT. I have done it with an outward flight for T4 before the connector was complete.

You may need to educate the lounge staff though. They were like "you shouldnt even be in this terminal" But i knew i was allowed.

You won't be able to *stay* airside (must clear immigration and customs, where you are then dumped landside). But you will be able to re-enter, as Sdtravel mentions.

The access rules for WPs for the TBIT lounges are:

Next onward flight must be on a Qantas, Jetstar Airlines+ or oneworld operated and marketed flight.#

Note the "operated and marketed". So unfortunately I don't think you'll get in given your next flight isn't on QF or a oneworld airline.

Flight on WestJet is listed as QF 3359 - does this constitute as "marketed" OW ?

Apologies, I did not read your post correctly, I missed the AND operated. Sorry and thanks.

I think you may be able to gain entry to the J lounge as a WP using the post flight access policy for WP/WP1 though this may not be so common at such a lounge - certainly your next flight is a QF codeshare, but not operated by a oneworld member, so none of those rules apply.

If you are flying in J or F on QF93 you can also gain entry under "same day premium international flight" rule.

IMHO.

It's not actually a Qantas lounge though, it's a OW lounge operated by Qantas. LAX is one of the special rules lounges (eg, QP passes not permitted there but QP members are).

Looks like Westjet depart from T3, so you have to go landside and back through T3 security before you leave too (T3 is an awful terminal, but if you have PP you can use the VX Loft which is acceptable, just no showers).

TBIT and T4/5/6/7/8 are now connected airside via the connectors and tunnels. The other three T1/2/3 are separate

AFAIK arrivals access is only for domestic lounges (for WPs anyway).

I too will be flying J on QF93 (MEL-LAX, arriving 06:35) and then immediately flying J on QF11 (LAX-JFK, departing 08:20). I'll have checked luggage. Both QF93 arrival and QF11 departure are at TBIT. How far out are you 'dumped landside' before I can get back to the QF F lounge? Is it a complete line up again for full screening, or is there a special screening area for transiting pax within TBIT. Are fast-track arrival/departure cards applicable with this transit?

NO fast track in TBIT
It is a full security screening again. You are basically 100% landside
