Hey guys,

Looking for suggestions for LAS for hotels?

Thinking of a cpl of nights with the boys, then leaving the bags with the hotel for a cpl days whilst I visit more tropical climes.

Cheers in advance :)

Not a guy, or even an expert in Vegas but I loved the Elara by Hilton group. No smoking, no casinos and suites to die for

Will keep an eye on this thread as I am going over in Feb for a wedding and a Bucks party.

Being a Hilton kind of guy, since the end of the Las Vegas "Hilton", I have stayed at the "DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas Airport",

Unlike many hotels they have regular complimentary shuttles from/to the airport and town (MGM Grand drop off/pick up).

Being away from the frenzy in and around the 'strip' IMHO is a good thing. :D

The Vdara is very nice - no casino but very close to Bellagio and Cosmo.

With 'the boys' though, Hardrock Hotel or HRH Suites (also very nice) for access to Rehab RX

Elara is fantastic, as Fiona said. In the middle of the strip, great rooms, good security, no smoking, great pool.

Aria
Encore @ Wynn
Wynn

Are my choices!

But for real suggestions, what are you looking for exactly ?

Budget ?

Depends on budget. Vegas literally covers everything.

The first time I went I stayed at the LV Hilton (which is no longer a Hilton). It was a typical US chain hotel with the added benefit of a casino (and cheap, about $60 per night). Buffet was ok, but it included wine and beer so we well and truly got our $20 worth! Location was a little far off the strip though.

Last few times I've stayed at the Luxor. It's considered a bit "low end" now, but it's cheap, well located and comfortable (plus has a little LV wow factor).

If you have cash to spend, get an executive room at the Belagio. $250-300 or so a night, but the lounge overlooks the strip from up high and it's great to settle in and watch the strip come alive in the evenings with a coughtail.

With a group of guys, I'd say Planet Hollywood. Possibly MGM too. Always loads of young people there and their nightclubs are hotness!!

LOVE MGM and perfect for what you're after...always something happening, good clubs, good places to eat and drink and their suites are fantastic. Always great headline acts playing in the theatre too. I've stayed there, Paris, Bellagio and Caesars and would pick MGM every time.

A couple of groups of bucks I knew had a ball at the Cosmopolitan earlier in the year and also The Palms (with it's Playboy club)
Enjoy!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Will get onto looking into those....

The trump is worth a look.
Amazing rooms (bathroom possibly as big as my living area) and I don't think I paid over $140 p/n. the strip is just through fashion show, and 5 mins walk to the wynn, aswell as shuttle busses the hotel owns run to other casinos further down the strip. To get what the trump offers in Australia you would be at least looking at 300 p/n

I am looking for LV hotels for January. This will probably be the cheapest but best hotel accommodation of my trip!

I always stay at Bellagio, can't beat it's location on the strip or fantastic pool area but am also in love with Mandarin Oriental after touring that last time, high price point but great product offering.

Ive just got back from a week at The Flamingo....and had an absolute ball.
I had one of their new "GO Rooms" which was pretty awesome, a $20 tucked in my passport at checkin also ensured an awesome view of both the Bellagio Fountains and Ceasars...

The couple in our group that were getting married did the same trick and got upgraded to a Go Suite....:D
The Flamingo is also right in the middle of the strip...close to everything.
It gets mixed reviews on tripadvisor, but i could not fault it at all!

Stayed at the Monte Carlo in May this year - great spot, good rate and it's on the list to stay at again next year.

Same here. I only stay at Bellagio. Love the hotel and it's perfect location. Their newly refurb rooms are really nice.

Stayed at Wynn for a week last year, it was brilliant!

My recommendations if you want the best -

Mandarin Oriental (Non-Gaming, Non-Party Atmosphere)
Wynn or Encore (Has everything)
Cosmopolitan (Brilliant, Younger Crowd)

I visit Vegas pretty much every year, and have tried a number of different hotels there. If you haven't been before, stay right in the centre of the strip. You'll feel like part of the action... Bellagio, Planet Hollywood, Cosmopolitan, Aria (or any other property part of the City Center project), are good choices with budgets to suit most tastes.

Further up the strip is Wynn / Encore (higher end) and the Venetian (every room is a suite) which are also nice. Luxor and surrounding hotels are at the south end of the strip where things aren't quite as happening (in terms of new developments, etc). Also, Trump is a little off the strip. Sometimes it's nice to be able to walk out the front of the resort and you're right in the thick of it (for first timers especially).

If you're with a bunch of guys, my recommendation would be the Planet Hollywood. Bit of a party atmosphere. Otherwise, for something quiter, go with the recommendations above.
