Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of women?

Re: Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of wom

I think we need to ascertain what the 'home' position of a toilet seat is? If 'home' is the seat down if men put the seat up then they should return it to its rightful position at the end of the performance.

If 'home' is the seat up then users should return it to that position after use.

Personally I don't care if men leave the seat up however I do object to them leaving it down because they're too frigging lazy to put it up then leave p!ss all over the seat for the next person to have to clean up before using it. This happened on a flight TPE/CTS by a male J class pax.

There is no home position. But I'm also aware of "stray dribbles". Once in a sleepy haze I went to loos behind row 13 QF11 and was stopped and advised by FA there were possibly stray dribbles and I should wear shoes. I returned with shoes and lo and behold the dribbles were cleaned up.

How I got Emerald city when I was not even sapphire still don't know.

/OT Re: "Home position"

Surely the Japanese have invented a toilet seat that auto-closes after a certain period of, ahem, inactivity.

Clearly though, this is the issue, for men the logical position is up and for women down. Personally have never found it that much of a strain to chnage the position to my preferred but seems a big issue to some.

Can't remember which airline it was, but one of the Japanese airlines had female only toilets. Not sure if they're still in existence though.

Although sometimes I wonder if some airports are geared towards the expectation of any humans at all (be it male or female).

Re: Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of wom

I dislike it when people close the lids. Which is why I try avoid using the loos in planes. But people do it on the ground too. I just don't like touching the lid once it's touched the seat. I usually try raising it with my feet (in shoes :p).

I'm not sure there's any special needs other than the obvious ones. As long as men and women don't do disgusting things then I'm happy.

Re: Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of wom

Why can't women leave the seat up?

Why can't men leave the seat up in the men's toilets? Have men become so afraid?

P.S.The seat should always be up and if you need the seat down the put it down for a few minutes and then put it back up again.

Do VA still have the women's only VC in J? If YES then I would say 'In some instances YES' - but IMHP airlines in General could and should ramp up their catering to women's requirements. (I have 10 sisters - I am pretty well in touch with my feminine side).

TBH visiting some WCs post some other males visits can be an 'experience' to say the least. Some of you will remember the Seinfeld episode where Jerry rode in F and Elaine was down back and visited the WC mid flight? I rest my case.

Yes they do. I wish I was a woman on those flights, as some men are disgusting (I guess, as a man, I can say that!)

I assume you're referring to the 777? They still have the 3 WCs in J, if that's what you mean, I think the "women-only" one used to be at the front right-hand side of the J cabin? In any case, on both occasions I've flown in J (to/from LAX), nothing was mentioned by the FAs to any of the female passengers (me being one of them) about a women's-only WC, and all 3 WCs were used by both male and female pax during the flight.

Re: Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of wom

..... which is why I would love to see separate toilets for males and females on planes.
I have seen this on the railways in India but I guess that is a whole different story :!: :D

Yes it was the RH front toilet that was 'Women's Only'.

The Japanese Shinkansen trains also have seperate toilets, the men's have stand up urinals.

And I tell you what, after using the facilities following some of the male pax's "visits", I wish it still was!!

See there is the 'thing' - as I posted earlier I grew up in a family of females - most males have no idea of how females really think. They might think they do - and their partners continually tell them they do simply to placate them - but most really have no idea. Wish this thread would evolve into one where the female AFF fraternity could feel a sense of total freedom and express many of their inner thoughts - but alas that is not how women roll - again the males won't understand this. :)

Re: Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of wom

I have actually experienced this on a plane - but I cant remember if it was AA / JAL / Cathay but it was either business or first. And an excellent idea. It was set up with make up remover towelettes, hand cream, cologne, and flowers. Thinking about it now it must have been Cathay first ?

Sounds like something JAL would have do.
The Japanese are the ones that in some of their hotels they have women only floors.

Hi Ladies and gentlemen, your comments please...

  1. Female only toilets on planes.
  2. In the amenity kits they should include a little bottle of perfume so the ladies can refresh themselves.:)

Many/most airlines have different amenity kits for men and women in an effort to make this work.

I think so too. Never received a shaver yet! CX has lovely Jurlique products.

Re: Ladies, are airports, airtravel and lounges geared toward the expectations of wom

Perhaps apart from having more clothes to 'adjust', women have been found to more often wash their hands afterwards. When men are in and out of the loo very quickly one might ask a man if he has washed his hands and a memorable answer I got once was .... "No, I did not wash my hands as I did not touch anything dirty" :(

The problem with boys and girls toilets is that the girls take longer.

Does this mean that there will be a queue for girls loos?

As I said, some men are absolutely disgusting when they visit toilets... I sometimes wish I could just smack some people when I have to use the facilities after them. I must mention I have also seen some women leaving onboard facilities in not-so-pleasant state, but men take the lead on this by far. (again, I think I can say all this for/to my own kind!)

The liquid contents can sometimes somehow find its way out of its designated place during the flush process if the lid isn't closed. That's how I learnt to close it when I make visits onboard.
