I have been looking for 2 x JASA tickets either MELB or SYD to SINGAPORE but there seems to be nothing...only Jetstar Economy seats.

what is going on ??

I already have 2 x return tickets MEL-SYD-SIN in August but if I dummy search for them again there is nothing there.

We want to go to KL and via SIN seems best option or is it ?
thanks

Not sure where / when you're looking - but there's plenty ;)

I'm off on a JASA to SIN tomorrow (ex-BNE mind you) - but there were tons ex SYD/MEL when I looked a few days ago.

There are tons, at least in J, but not at classic award rates. Maybe this is the new reality.

Looking later in the year the base rate for a business saver is 266K points per person each way - thus 1M points in total. Reducing it to classic rates requires a payment of A$6K.

4 days ago there was a ton of availability for BNE-SIN, SYD-SIN, MEL-SIN for this week and next week.

Perhaps try different dates - or wait a couple of days till the next sale is announced :)

I tried some random dates in march 2014 and I got 120000 points + $37xx return SYD-SIN in J on the 747

I don't think there is any availability at cheap dollar levels on any dates even when classic awards are available. So for two at the moment it is 240K return and about $6700 contribution or about $8400 regular booking on the saver fare. Hmmm. Hard decision  Same thing applies on other popular routes.

Same :( In case the sky really had fallen on the international JASA I plugged in a couple of random dates next year SYD-LAX and they are available at Classic awards levels with sensible fees and charges ($1xx_ rtn)

I wonder if QF are more capacity constrained now given the lack of PER/ADL flights to Asia.

Did some inverstigation - the search engine is returning and pricing 'D' class fares to Singapore for March 2014. Maybe tied up with the Emirates joint pricing changes happening today....

There are some return fares between OZ and LAX at classic rates. I'd been looking at LAX-Australia as a one way and cannot, so far, find anything at other than stratospheric levels. In the past, one ways were readily available. Whether this means anything, who knows.

SYD-LAX,SYD-DFW and reverse havent released ASA's at any level for over a week....(know its school holidays 2014 for current release dates, but still expected the stratospheric ones to show up.But nothing, not even YASA.Apart from the usual CX)

I've never seen an international JASA let alone a FASA at classic rates, ever, so I don't really feel affected by any of this. Even domestically it's really hard to find JASAs at classic rates, hence I have only ever taken one JASA and won't miss them much if they go.

I was surprised this morning though when I was looking at "book flight" on the QF app for iphone and when it got to the payment page, it popped up with 2 options "use money" or "use points + pay" which I am pretty sure I have never seen before when looking at "book flight" on the iphone. I was also surprised because I hadn't been looking for an award booking at all. Is this a new thing or have I just not noticed it before on the iphone app? The same options did not appear when doing the same booking enquiry on the desktop later in the morning, just the normal payment options.

Even since April 1, there's been nothing in the way of classic J awards SYD-SIN (QF5 or QF81) that I've been able to find (was booking a family holiday) however there is some availability on QF51/QF52 (I booked two one-ways at short notice just last week).

Whilst you can "points + pay" and reduce the points to classic award levels, you have to pay several thousand in cash (i.e. D or I booking class). Checking ExpertFlyer shows no U availability (which seems to be the usual requirement for the cheapest JASA options).
