Got an e-mail asking for registration of interest in getting the Qantas multi currency/MasterCard. Hope that's all it is, but the text makes it sound like an application!

You'll be among the first to receive the exciting new card when it becomes available later this year. We will send the card to the address we have on file for you, so be sure to keep your details up to date.

If you register before 12 May 2013 you will be one of the first to receive the new card when it is available. We will send the card to the address we have on file for you, so be sure to keep your details up to date.

Still no detailed T&Cs.

I am registering just to get the white P1 card... I need to get out more...

No obvious personal identifiers in the link but it registers you straight away.

No email for me from either carrier...

Hmmm ... and now I have to phone them to opt out of marketing stuff for their card.

Amazing how with some things an easy click of the mouse will do, but others you have to make the call, wait in the queue, tell them your life story 'for security', unsubscribe, then decline to tell them why you've chosen to unsubscribe.

I can see this is going to be a hard sell exercise.

no email from QF here either, will come in due course I reckon, wouldn't mind a new card, current one is getting hard to read

I registered for VA, and I've now registered for QF :)

I still don't really understand what this money card will be good for. Just received their email and deleted it straight away- maybe a bit more detailed info wouldn't harm before trying to sign me up for something I don't understand...

Whhhhaaaaaa, I want an invite!!!! I want to get the card before I go OS in July - hmmm, I guess they are starting with the top tiers, so I will probably get an email in 2014 :-( whoa is me.

Even Virgin sent me an email, and I am yet to take a flight with them! #firstworldproblem

Basically for lazy bogans who want a pre-paid travel card for their travels, with likely high fees and a poor exchange rate.

The best option for most people is 28 degrees or a credit card that gives you 2 points per $1 for overseas spend which makes up for the currency conversion and commissions etc.

Thanks for that explanation- precisely what I had in my head when I deleted that email. And there hasn't been any details about fees and exchange rate as far as I can tell- why would you sign up for this without this vital piece of information? Oh yes, sorry- lazy bogans! :D

Shame you judged people without actually knowing either why they had signed up or what they were signing up for. I will have a card that has the potential to act as a currency card. It isn't costing me anything and I will get the white card whilst I am still a P1.

I am neither a bogan nor lazy. Equally I am not uninformed unlike some.

Each have their reasons - one way or another.

For me I am rather prejudiced as a similar dual purpose Debit/FF card released by Air NZ was the portent of the beginning of the end of that program usefulness to me.

I have absolutely no wish for such an object (nor any need).

FWIW, the APost Load n' Go travel Visa is likely to be cheaper to operate and even it has horrible FOREX rates for those used to CitiDebit/28°.

I got the email. Didn't click the link because I'm worried there might be a monthly account keeping fee. Like most of these cards seem to have. Do I really want to pay for the privelege of having my QFF card? So they really should release some fee information.

BTW, I'm usually a lazy bogan - so I think that sinks some theories going around.

White is the new black.....

Everything old is new again......

Why would you phone them, just un click in your profile?????

I think the card has been light on details but the email did say points would be earned. I know it's a big assumption but if the card earns one point per AUD, and being free, wouldn't that make it an excellent everyday credit card?
