I have only just requalified Platinum after a few years of little travel.

Decided to experience the First Class lounge again and booked on JQ35 from Syd-Mel on Saturday 9-Aug-2014. Booked this at least a month ago as a Treat for my wife - birthday dinner in the F Lounge. Viable alternative imo to paying $300 to go out to a nice restaurant. Plus spend a few days in Melbourne.

JUST received a cancelled flight text, and cannot find any alternative to get from Syd-Mel through International lounge on saturday.

Strange thing is, JQ35 on a dreamliner is still scheduled for the same day between Mel and Bali.

Really really pissed off.

Anyone have any ideas????????

Trying to find a similar flight over the coming weeks (leaving Sat) and cant find anything

Welcome to the forums!

Jetstar cancel these "domestic flights" quite often and usually between 3-7 days before the flight, and you are right, it's not showing as being able to be booked anymore

You will have to go with the standard JQ domestic flight and enjoy the Sydney business lounge

As the plane still needs to fly from SYD-MEL I can only assume that JQ still fly it, but simply don't bother with passengers and the associated costs that they entail

Not the best news for you, I know, but it happens :(

As mentioned, these flights regularly get cancelled. It's the luck of the draw if yours operates.

Yup, VH-VKA was ferried from SYD-MEL on Monday

Thought as much, thanks :) JQ must crunch the numbers about a week out from the flight, and if revenue from passengers is less than $xx_xx then they ferry the plane instead of stuffing around with a gate/other fees etc

There are quite a few restaurants that you can still have a nice enough dinner for $150 or less, if you stick to a glass of wine each :p

Thanks, I didn't realise this was common knowledge on these flights. Seems criminal to me. Calling it an 'Engineering situation' and most likely it being purely a cost calculation. Wondering if a class action on this type of cancellation might make think more about dodgy practices :)

Anyway, I am still booked on JQ18 Mel-Syd on Monday but now im reluctant to trust that happening.

Should I risk taking a new flight to Melbourne in the hope of JQ18 not being cancelled or just get a complete refund?

If you're that desperate for the F lounge just get a cheap flight to AKL and back.
Or go to a proper restaurant :)

Is there any wonder that these flights get cancelled quite regularly?

Well i am also an aviation nut, and these were to be my first rides in a 787 haha

I was in Sydney Domestic a few years ago when the Dreamliner first came to town and watched it depart ... vowed I would have to try it out.

JQ35 was empty on Tuesday SYD-MEL so it's not surprising they cancel them regularly. Keep looking and hopefully you'll be lucky.

?

I doubt it, can't see JQ being remotely worried about anyone mounting a class action. There are a myriad other QF group flights between SYD-MEL.

Just wait...

If they cancel JQ18 then they will let you change to a similar domestic flight

A class action about what precisely:?:

JQ commit to flying you from A to B and they have not reneged on that.

Like you I would be fairly annoyed but as Ned Kelly said, "Such is life"

1A Please, make that two of us. For similar reasons, I'd booked JQ35 ~3 months ago in order to take my wife to the F lounge for the first time. What was intended as F Lounge time, in the interests of preservation of life, may have to be replaced with an earlier flight? & extended MEL shopping time for Mrs 8803 while I mind mini-8803 & mini-8803 Jr.

With sincere gratitude & thanks to the generosity of the contributors to AFF, I obtained WP for the first & last time in February this year, with year end in March. Swings & roundabouts... Will try my luck again at the AFF JQ35 F Lounge Run/Wake, I fear, in the not too distant future...

The days of WP's gaining super-cheap access to the Flounge appear to be coming to an end .... no surprises there!

Class action 'But judge- I don't care that there are 10 other flights that day from the domestic terminal- I should get intl Flounge access on my $49 ticket!!!'

Perhaps ensuring you have super cheap Flounge access on a domestic flight isn't a priority for QF?

I'm amazed they still allow JQ pax access. It's an unnecessary expense for an unprofitable business.

Well, looks like I will never be posting here again, no wonder theres so many lurkers.

Make a joke about class action, with a clear smiley and get flamed.

I love a good loophole as much as the next guy but you cannot seriously think a domestic flight on an LCC is a valid entry for an intl Flounge. I think QF are the only airline in the world who allow this.

HON Circle with Germanwings for European 'domestic'?
