Jetstar has announced today three new Australia-New Zealand connections –
Melbourne-Auckland (daily), Queenstown-Gold Coast (twice weekly) and Queenstown-Melbourne (twice weekly).

The new A320 services represents a boost in Jetstar’s low fare trans Tasman flying by almost 20 per cent, with an additional 3,100 seats each week on the large Australia & New Zealand market.

We've love to hear what you think about these new routes.

More ZQN flights are good.
Is JQ now approved for the same RNP minima as QF/NZ ??

On other JQ questions.

Has Jetstar got the "governmental approval" for MEL-SIN
From memory meant to start mid-Dec

Hi Simon.

I will possibly try the 23.40 flight some time MEL-AKL. I prefer a late night flight and I'd rather fly an A320 than an old 737-400.

Do the Trans-Tasman JQ flights have any IFE?

Would JQ ever consider *Class Trans-Tasman?

I thought these flights (especially the ZQN ones) were announced months ago? Has the number of flights increased, or are you simply restating the fact a week before operations begin?

Just to clarify a few questions raised:

Jetstar has received the required approvals to operate our new A330 services between Melbourne and Singapore.

Video on demand is available on all trans Tasman flights. You may have heard we are looking to introduce the iPad as our inflight entertainment across our domestic and international network next year.

StarClass is currently only available on our long haul international A330 flights, not trans Tasman flights, which utilises our short haul international A320 fleet. We have no current plans to introduce Clarclass on our A330s - however NZ customers can get a taste of StarClass when we launch our daily Auckland-Singapore* service from March next year. *Subject to regulatory approval.

We commercially announced our exciting new international services from Queenstown and Auckland in July. This week we're marking the operational commencement of these services.

I hope this helps.

Simon,

I assume you mean Starclass and A320s here.

Personally I like the thought of travelling Trans Tasman on an A320 about as much as I like the thought of travelling it on a B737 (400 or 800). They are to be avoided where possible. About 2 -3 hours max is my limit by choice.

Good to know! I'm booked on one of the services around Christmas (and based on the available tix, it's VERY heavily booked), and wasn't wanting to consider other options if the approval didn't come through! [Although, I assume for JQ these days, as an established airline tied in with Qantas, it tends to be a rubber stamp]

Mel - Auckland on JQ. Sorry not interested until you have SC's for the trip. Can get those on QF.

A Y seat is a Y seat.

Aren't SC are available on jetstar in jetflex fares? Just need to buy their most expensive fare.

I run my own company, so why would I throw away money. Its ok for public service of big company accounts where they spend shareholders money etc..........

Just saying that SC can be earned on trans Tasman JQ flights. That you choose not to buy the required fare doesn't mean it can't happen.

One also gets SP's with AirNZ T-T flights irrespective of the fare paid (no APD's generally on saver fares).

The JQ 320 will be your basic 'domestic' style service. If you are into QFF SC and points it costs ~$280 more each way (e.g. $345 return on JetSaver to $920 JetFlex).
