QAN group obviously feels it has businessised CityFlyer's market position sufficiently, to expand JQ into direct competition with QF & perhaps more importantly DJ on Australia’s number 2 air route! (Not to forget, the yet to surface Tiger.)

Assuming acampbel is travelling ex SYD; there are no JQ flights betwixt that port and BNE.

An uncanny coincidence of postings, now sees JQ launching at $39 one way, http://www.jetstar.com/jetMail/launch_bris_syd_23June07/index.htm

Hmmm... only the later ex BNE flight (14:45) gives punters a chance to avail themselves of HP's (or their equivalent) in the QP!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

2 returns is a splash in the pond so it seems like a pretty poor offering.

It'll be interesting to see whether QF decides to cut flights that are half hourly in this time period (eg. QF537 and QF523). With the increase in capacity, (presuming QF has a stake in the leisure market) JQ might make these QF mid-day flights a little lighter.

For the flexible, budget travellers this a god-send however. Even DJ's lowest every-day fare on the route is $89. Bring on Tiger, but please QF, don't put your prices up even further.

Hmmm, at least at that time of the day, BNE domestic QP won’t be packed, and people might stand a chance of some service! (Last week, in the morning peak, there was a nightmare queue…for toast, or more so, the toaster!)

Yep, I reckon the opportunity to remove a catered lunch flight from the QF timetable, could also factor in this decision.

I figure the cost difference between a hot meal (oops sandwich) and a muffin/cake/treat isn’t huge, but the potential to penny pinch, without much consumer perception/reaction, seems to be QF’s philosophy at the moment.
