Fellow AFFers, I'd appreciate your help for an upcoming flight question.

I am due to fly MEL-OOL-KIX on JQ in June. JQ since my weekend plans didn't align with QF's schedule, and I have to hit the ground running Monday morning.

My question is, I am flying Starter Max, but I want to upgrade to Business Max. I am happy to pay (my company policy doesn't allow business class for this short a trip).

Can I upgrade Starter Max to Business Max? If so, through the website or call centre (and cash or points?)?

JQ website doesn't give much help.

Thanks in advance, exRAAF.

You can, over the phone, but you have to pay the change fee too, as it's treated as a cancel and rebook.

You could always risk it with a ODU?

Not sure how widely it works anymore. It used to work pretty much all the time when it was still Starclass (and it was fixed at $250 with full QF J earn) if there was availability, but i've heard some people being denied it completely (and told they no longer offer it), and i've heard some people who have had success with it too (but no QF earn).

I upgraded my brothers starter plus to a business fare for no fee late last year. (the business sale resulted in business being cheaper than the starter plus he'd paid - no fare difference, no fee - also no refund though).

Update: called JQ (QF WP number directed me there), connected within a minute. Seemed like a simple request and $300 later had Bus Max. Could've risked an ODU I suppose, but if I have to fly the orange cancer, I'll try and do it as infrequently and comfortably as possible.

Thanks for your help all.

That must be new. There was a lot of angst at the time of the Jetstar bundles being launched because you couldn't 'upgrade' an unbundled fare to a bundled fare wasn't there?
This is "bundled" to "bundled".

Note the "Starter Max" is often more than double cost of basic "Starter" on routes like these.
