My other great judging tip for quality premium airline staff, is, when they come round and ask you if you would like another drink, and your only answer is “yes”, seeing if they have to ask or confirm what you are drinking, and if not, checking that what turns up is what you wanted.

Lol. The bardude in the QP the other day recognised me when I came back. "Same Again?" he asks. "Yep". So off he goes and starts pouring a scotch. He says "was that with coke or dry?". "Ummm it was actually a Crown Lager" says me. He just shook his head and mumbled that he was sure I was someone else...

The next time I returned my Crown was being opened as I approached!

Well they would be wrong 100% of the time with me. But their saving grace is that I don't travel domestic J. ;)

JohnK,

I'm happy to have your share of the G & T. Oops, I normally don't travel domestic 'J' either :!:

Domestically, You can have the G&T down the back but it will cost you $6 or $7.

I dont generally drink G&T domestically - most of my domestic flights have been leisure fligths recently (on the back of a DONE4 - cheers guys :)) and have been day flights so I am normally into the bubbles.

Still can't beat the CX G&T for me though .... mmmm CX - only 10 days until the BEHEMOTH!

I don't think I would be drinking G&T if someone was paying me $6 or $7. :-|

Getting way off topic now but it is only small price to pay for the right drink. If I remember correctly a few years back in the Orchard Rd nightclubs a glass of beer was ~S$10-12 whereas a jug, probably 4-5 glasses, was ~S$35. Have prices increased much in that time?

I will be in SIN for one night next month on the way through to BKK and looks like I will be in SIN for another night on the way back as the 9:00am SIN-PER flight appears to be the cheapest option back to SYD.

Now all that is left to do is work out the best way to get from Holiday Inn Atrium to Orchard Rd. The MRT looks a little complex, especially at that time of the night, so taxi could be the best option.

JohnK,

35 jug about the same, by the glass, sometimes upto about $14/15 but happy hour is good as is places like Brewworx where there is cheaper beer to be had.
I prefer holiday in parkview just behind orchard road myself, from the atrium and you dislike the heat a few dollars in a taxi. If you just flag one down from hotel lobby about $4-8 depending on peak hour or not. No more than $10 SG.

Why orchard road, shopping or night life ? or you just want to hang out at orchard towers ;)

HI Parkview is probably a better hotel than HI Atrium but also costs ~S$70 more per night. I am not planning on being in the room for too long so even if return taxi to Orchard Rd costs S$20 then I have saved S$50.

Hang out at Orchard Towers. ;) Have a steak at 3 Monkeys restaurant downstairs, hope this is still around otherwise the Irish pub around the corner, and then slowly make my way up to the top floor and Top Ten nightclub.

Not sure about the steak place, but 'Harry's' bar is still just behind the place.
Upstairs  are you sure ?
The international music bar on the 1st/2nd floor is interesting.

I am a clark quay person myself for entertainment. MOS, CrazyElephant,1nitestand,Attica etc.

I will be in town neary all next month so if you want to catch up just send me a PM.

For food do you like the Brazilian BBQ places like at Chijmes ? Set price for all you can eat as well.

I guess this will all be a lot more relevant when JQi flys to SIN. :p

... perhaps it should be in the Tiger Airways AUD499 MEL-SIN return thread. :D

Well I didn't get any reply from Jetstar after they cancelled one of my business class flights, been waiting over 10 weeks, so it looks like I'm an economy pass. to B. kok next week. Is it bad??? Should I buy a few drinks tip back the chair and just go to sleep.??
Good job I'm business class with British Air on my return.

I strongly advise on this. If you have Qantas Club access, I would be doing shots and passing out. ;)

Seriously though, its not that bad for a relatively short sector- the 9hrs tends to go fast. Steer clear of the onboard food or selectively purchase (but not the hot meal) and ask them at checkin whether they can block a seat beside you or give you four in the middle. I must get around to posting my half finished JQi trip report.

And some decent headphones for the first 40 minutes from when you board until the engines spool up. I'm not sure if anyone else agrees but that stupid little jingle played on repeat "let's fly jetstar" can get a bit annoying.

I hate being down the back . I have an aisle seat first row econ, the only 4 rowers at this stage are way down. What do you recommend?

I'd keep your forward aisle and then ask at check-in about the four seats and decide then. If you're small, then the forward aisle is probably best.

Yeah the restaurant could also go by the name of Monkeys Cafe and it is at the back of the mall.

Top Ten disco is a very popular nightclub and is situated on the 4th floor. Drinks can get a little expensive but I like the music and the atmosphere.

We can catch up if you have free some time on your hands. I will be there late on July 15 after flying in on QF31 and should be there again July 26 a little earlier flying back from BKK on Thai.

Never tried it. As long as the food is not too spicy, hot.

Hi There, if you are tall, try to sit in front row of Starclass. My husband is tall with very long legs and we were in row 2 or 3 and the people in front reclined and jammed his legs in place (and they were not willing to put their seat up, even a bit). The flight crew told me to ask for row 1 coming back. We already had that for a seat assignment and he was a lot more comfortable. I think it says something if the flighties recommend this (they know I fly QF business or first a lo and am a Platinum flyer, so I asked their opinion...even they sid they know it is a big departure from QF business class). I was overall very disappointed to be stuck with jetstar to HNL and back, as QF have replaced and augmented their service with JQ flights. I don't think it is worth the award points either (even though I used 20% fewer, as they were "discounting" awards that were booked on Jetstar). I gave this a go, but won't be doing it again. Good luck.

I flew Starclass to Hawaii and thought it was great. First row centre seats seemed to offer a little extra leg room and, yes, the entertainment system is clumsy. Access to Qantas Club paid off as flight was delayed by many hours. Return journey in Qantas Business was much better!
