Hi AFF family. Long time follower, first time poster here. So apologies in advance for any posting errors.

Let me give a quick background before I get to the issue at hand. I've booked a Europe trip for mid next year (using Qantas classic rewards) with the final 2x legs going from Dubai to Singapore and then onto Melbourne.
I booked each leg of the trip separately. I tried for a RTW ticket, but we all know how incompetent Qantas call centres are. So gave up on that long ago.
  • Dubai to Singapore is with Emirates (EK348 in Economy) landing in Changi 8.50am on 17th July 2023
  • Singapore to Melbourne is with Jetstar (JQ8 in Business). Singapore was meant to just be a transit with the flight to Melbourne leaving at 9pm from Changi. Plan was to chill out in Changi for 12 hours before boarding the flight. This Jetstar booking is what's giving me a headache now.
I received an email from Qantas advising the original flight has been changed/cancelled and the new flight is now on 18th July exactly 24 hours later. I know Singapore is lovely, but I've been there enough times and not to mention I'll be at the end of a 1.5 month Europe trip with absolutely no leave left.

My preferences in priority order are:
  1. Keep my July 17th Departure with a non-Jetstar flight. I know this is a long shot, but I have no faith in Jetstar to not make further changes last minute.
  2. Keep my July 17th Departure with Jetstar.
  3. Suck it up and agree to the new July 18th departure and hope Jetstar won't make further changes.
Before I make that dreaded call to Qantas, I'd like to know what my options/rights are in this situation.
Really appreciate all your thoughts and assistance on this.

Welcome to AFF posting @acrox :)

If you wish to pursue option 1. then with such a 24 hour change you would be entitled to a full refund.

However, what other options would you have to get from SIN to MEL that day?

I had a Jetstar flight booked in April next year from Tokyo to the Gold Coast. Similar to above but booked directly through Jetstar. What I couldn't believe is how little information was provided in the schedule change.

The email mentioned my flights had changed then said:

"Your new flight details are below, please take note of your flight date:"

It took me a couple of reads to realised they'd moved the date back 24 hours. Annoyingly the seat map for the flight 24 hours later was almost full and I lost my exit row in the process. I guess I could have asked for a rebooking through Cairns to keep it on the same day but in the end just went down the full refund path and have booked Air Calin instead.
