Jetstar failure to reimburse for delay?

Hi fellow FFs
My flight with JS, Honolulu to Sydney 0835 was delayed 4 hrs to 1230, which caused me + 1 to miss our connection to Perth with Qantas. When we arrived in Sydney we were told to go to check in with about 30 others who had been on a delayed Q flight from NZ and were in the same predicament. Qantas then put the NZ flight people on a bus to accommodation but I was told that Jetstar were responsible for mine x my partners accommodation. As there were no Jetstar reps there that late Qstaff suggested we get our own accommodation and be reimbursed by them, which I did.
Upon calling JS today, I have been told that due to it being a morning flight delay, not overnight delay, I am not entitled to a reimbursement. I have read their Ts X Cs as being in my favour, but after long arguments they won't budge. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thankyou

Was this on two tickets? It so, JQ is only obligated to get you to SYD. I assume QF rebooked your flight at no expense, which is more than they are legally required to. (You bear the risks if you book separate tickets, even if it’s a delay from one of the airlines).

The Jetstar rules only compensate for overnight delays, and that is on the departure, not arrival. (Ie, you needed a hotel in HNL because of an overnight delay).

If it’s a single ticket you should be entitled to a hotel if the QF flight was the following day.
