QANTAS will for the first time use low-cost offshoot Jetstar to service a resources contract when it starts flying Airbus A320s to two Fortescue Metals Group mines in Western Australia later this year.

At this stage it doesn't affect me, I'm Friday rostered, but I suspected something was coming a while ago when they repainted the parking lines on the tarmac at the airstrip to include A320 & B737 in addition to the F100....

Vinomofo is the best wine deals site on the planet. Good wines, real people and epic deals, without all the bowties and bs.

That will make it harder for the FIFO mob to maintain WP status if they don't earn SC & points - unless of course the employer pays for a plus bundle.

Mind you if it's a charter flight you won't earn points anyway regardless of the airline.

FMG must have made it part of the deal, as I received points on the time I flew on the charter, however no status bonus, no minimum 1000 points and no SC's.

With FMG Charters you get the base minimum points only (678) No SC's. When QF changed their SC earning structure in July we briefly got SC's, but that ended when someone cottoned on!!!!

Makes sense from QF's perspective to use some of their extra A320's/capacity on the mining routes, freeing up Qantas planes to operate regular passenger services :)
