So I'm in Jakarta for the first time and got a flight to Sydney next week at 7pm. With the crazy traffic in Indo and also since I have to check out of my hotel at 10am, I was thinking of heading to the airport straight away, probably arriving at 12pm.

Does anyone know what time Qantas check in opens so I can head to the lounge? Qantas Platinum FF here. I believe it's a third party lounge.

Will be contract staff so I'd think 3 hours unfortunately

If you are travelling with carry on bag only you can check in online and print your boarding pass. Last month I went through security and passport control 4 hours before QF flight. They looked very surprised to see an A4 printed BP but no problems in the end. Haven't been to the QF counter.
The lounge is 3rd party and the food offering is very limited.

Thanks for the details! I've got no check in luggage so I'll try get there 5-6 hours before and hopefully I can get in. Cheers

The lounge in Jakarta airport is pretty bad... I'd rather eat in the various fast food places before the check-in area.

The new lounge used by QF in T3 is now not too bad. A few cooked to order options and not a bad buffet.

I wouldn’t want to spend too long in there. The lounge is always stinking hot with poor air conditioning but it is usually fairly quiet when we have been there. Food selection is pretty poor but there is a kitchen where a chef cooks up a couple of dishes, the noodles were very nice.

I didnt realize QF have shifted to T3 already. Whole different story then. T2 lounges are terrible. T3 ia brand new

It has been at least a year and a half:

I'm on the fence. It's an average lounge. The only alcohol is red and white wine, nothing else. The food is mediocre although the couple of cooked-to-order options are reasonable.

The entire airport is stinking hot in my experience. I made this comment to the check-in agent on my last flight and he said a lot of airlines had complained.

Apparently oneworld also doesn't know: Lounge Access | oneworld.

Lots of complaints about T3 being hot. But I've never found it to be too bad.

I suspect you can get beer in the Saphire lounge as well as wine.

It's not a super great lounge it's true. But compared with the previous CGK lounge offerings it's a good improvement. And some of the food offerings are actually pretty good.

Counters opened around four hours prior to departure when I went through in August 2019 (from memory, about 3.10pm for the 7pm departure). When I was there the same third-party agents transitioned immediately from servicing another airline, so I guess whenever that flight clears they open up QF.

All lounge eligible passengers are directed to the same place - the T3 Plaza Premium Lounge (i.e. nothing extra for Plats). Certainly better than the options in the old T2. Buffet food is pretty average, the made to order noodles are the go. The whole terminal is fairly muggy in my experience (the lounge is open to the terminal as the walls don't extend to the ceiling - similar to those in BKK).

Go somewhere else instead. People watching in the Malls (which are freezin) is a great pastime.
There are bucketloads of interesting places to go to, and the traffic to the airport is not too bad if you get on your way at 2-3pm
Depending where your hotel is of course.

I wouldn't recommend spending a lot of time at the CGK contract lounge (Plaza Premium Lounge Saphire). The food is decent, and the views are pretty awesome (arguably better than GA's flagship CGK lounge since they're located away from the windows), but it gets boring after an hour or so. Certainly not as good as HKG's PP lounges.

Also, from my history flying QF out of CGK, they are often delayed by at least 1 hour, and one time by 4, so arriving closer to departure isn't a big deal.
