I've felt the sting of the QFF Loyalty Middle Finger

Since when was that announced?

Looks like I'm wrong - I would have sworn that one of the QF reps at the recent Corporate Travel Show told me the SYD-SFO flights would be operated by both A380 and 747. Having looked again on the QF website it appears that's not the case - 747 and thus 3 class only.

Means I'll still be flying QF11or the AA 777 to LAX.

Airline staff are probably some of the last people I'd rely on for accurate information about their planes, products, services and offerings :p

You're not really wrong. The claim will be true as of the next schedule change when UA downgrades itls SYD services from 777's (with "F") to 787's (without) so that QF/AA will be the only airlines offering an F product on some flights to the USA, unless you count indirect routes (eg: SYD-BKK-LAX on TG, or the long way around on EK, or similar). VA/DL and NZ via AKL do not offer a F product.

OK completely OT here, but I've just re-read the thread title: does this mean the OP got... fingered? And it stung?:mrgreen:

Once - many years ago - I had to seek the attention of the State Manager of a large insurance company to overturn a decision by junior staff denying me continuity of cover when I applied to transfer my life insurance (of 10 years' duration) from another company.

Despite my letters, the assessor demanded that I served the "obligatory" waiting period as if I had been walking off the street seeking a life insurance.

The State Manager immediately reversed the decision and stated that such a case would be raised at the monthly staff meeting to help educate all assessors.

That's interesting. I'm assuming you're referring to either the 90 day trauma exclusion or the 13 month suicide clause. Neither of these have applied ( IME) when changing insurers ( in the last 20 years as I recall). That sounds like classic "dumbness " on behalf of the frontline staff member. I can say however it always pays to check. As an adviser with over 30 years experience (many not all) life office staff just make it up if they don't know !!

"Yes Virginia, there is Life Time Platinum"

Ok so I have kept my mouth shut for a long time, but I do know and have seen LTP cards/members, I am not going to go into detail but was a bit envious when seeing it :)...

for the moment I am staying with QF personally until I have the time to look elsewhere, but like the OP I do similar travel locations so QF I am guessing I would still be best... unfortunately I feel my loyalty has been one-way for the majority of the last decade too.

As a matter of interest, why would you do that? Can you give a hint as to the conditions that might apply?

I knew someone (now deceased) who had LTP as a carryover from the c.1998 tier changes. She had the top tier at the time, and according to her she argued with QF that the new tiers were a downgrade for her so they gave her LTP as a consolation.

Interesting. Wonder if she bequeathed her card to anyone? :)

Isn't LTP actually CL and by invitation only?
I know of some QF execs that were offered Lifetime CL, only to have it revoked when they went to work for the main competitor... their lifetime was short in this case ;)

A former colleague told me he was LTP. I have no evidence to verify it.

He's probably confusing plat with silver. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

Saw an NB once asking for a free upgrade domestically to "First Class" as he was "nearly Platinum" - obviously didn't travel enough to know that J is the highest cabin domestically.

It was also pointed out to him that as a bronze he'd have to reach silver and gold prior to Platinum.

Just thought I'd check back into this thread to wrap things up.

My comped WP status took effect from 1 October when my membership year restarted, with my new card arriving about about a week before I was due to fly out. I returned from that trip 8 days later with 1130 SCs, so not quite the full WP renewal for the latest membership year but close enough.

The comped status was worth just over 9000 points (the extra Status Bonus WPs earn over and above SG). It also allowed me to access the AA Flagship Lounge in LAX (and guest my colleague) when connecting through on US domestic flights. Given that I haven't yet reached my 1200 SC renewal point, the comped status is also useful so my wife and I can access various domestic Business Lounges when flying in a few weeks time.

Despite the early hiccup and thread title, QF did come to the party for me and as a result they'll probably see another $100K of flight revenue from my company across the next 12 months.
