Issues with Qantas website?

Well.. when I have experienced issues over the past few days, it's just been logging in to the FF section, booking flights, etc has still been OK.

Just out of interest what browsers are people using :?:

If I use Mozilla with the Qantas web site then I have problems so I use IE7.
If I use IE7 for AFF or FT the speed is unbelieveably slow so I use Mozilla.

Has anyone else considered this.

It seems more and more that web sites are using resource hungry java/flash scripts etc in their web pages.

These adversely effect PCs running at, say, less than 1Ghz CPU.

To relate a specific case.

I use Firefox for almost all my web browsing and this is with various desktops/laptops running Win98, WinNT and XP OS's.

The most resource hungry part of the QF site I frequently encounter is when doing online bookings from one of the "Specials" pages (e.g. Domestic Specials "From Melbourne") with a change to a selection box control or destination generating a myriad of changes to other controls and their loaded values. On my 550Mhz home PC I can actaully observe these changes being made.

The processing required by the script to set up a page, then continually monitor the controls/values and any changes being made to them meant that the scripts would often timeout before the initial setup process for the web page display completed.

In the end I did some research and ascertained how to get around this. I had to set the Firefox dom.max_script_run_time value up from it's default of 10 seconds to 30 before I could reliably use the site.

There other other site I have problems with; they include FOXTEL's New "you beaut" program guide (since Jan 1), many Telstra hosted sites such as Bigpond, Webmail, AFL.com.au & NRL.com.

I have been using Firefox for quite some time now and find it generally pretty reliable - even on the sites listed above where other members have experienced problems.

I have pretty much given up on IE7 as I find it frustratingly slow and prone to hanging. I found that IE6 was much faster and more stable, but switched to FF for its ease of use.

Occassionally I come across a site that will not load in Firefox so am forced to use IE. I have read of IE emulators that run in FF, but have yet to try one.

Anyone else having trouble with the QF website?

I am getting 404 errors in some parts, zero size object errors in the booking engine etc.

I was having a lot of trouble earlier - seems ok now though - managed to book an award flight in J for mrssimongr

Seems ok for me; I was able to go through the motions of a rtw award right up until when I had to pay ...

Whatever the issues were Qantas seems to have resolved them as the site loads fine this morning
