Back in the day I was WP / partner gold etc. Now I'm stranded on lifetime silver but silll sitting on 700K points.

Planning a business cabin trip to Europe with Mrs JayBeeDee next year departing Auckland.

When I go onto the QF site there are next to no business awards available even 350 days out.

My recollection of when I was WP is that I just rang the call centre, said I was after an award booking fro 2 pax in business to Paris on the dd of mmm.  The next day they rang back and confirmed.

My question is should I do a circle pacific status run to get myself up to WP which would also take me close to lifetime gold.
Will that help getting award booking requests approved?

Alternatively if I put together a oneworld itinerary and phone the callcentre is there any chance of getting something put together with a human on the other end, rather than trying to battle with the website booking engine. I did something similar a few years back with oneworld airlines and managed it but there were still a few constraints. Any tips or experience welcome.

Thanks
JBD

Dont forget JASAs, not sure what month you wish to depart but as an example that would also help on the status front, factor in the points haul as a silver and the difference is only 70K for those SCs:

Earlier this year I want two business seats SIN-MEL - E/F was showing I9 U1.

A JASA would have been nice, but as a WP I called and was able to get another U seat released, so booked two classics, saving some $$$.

I have also noticed that business seats will be offered to me as a WP for a Classic award but E/F is showing U0. In these cases JASA' into U class are not available.

So yes, WP gives me 1) Greater access to Classic award seating and 2) the ability to have seats released for classic awards.
