Is the Bar on A 380 QF or EK for F Class only ?

As I understand it, there is also a small bar at the front of F on EK that is for F only.

No F Bar or F bar seating area on EK A380.
There are however 2 showers.
Port and Starboard.

What you see at the top of the stairs is what is talked about as the F bar.

If you go there and ask for a drink, it is delivered to your seat.
Not a lot of room.
Probably not a good idea for folks with one too many to try standing at the top of those open stairs.

Here is another shot with the F Bar open.
Have never seen it open.
Just a waterfall flowing down the closed doors that suggests it is no longer used.

See post and pic at #18. Bar you refer to at front-most 'G' is open during flight (or was for mine, few weeks ago) on a 'help yourself' basis (or at least I did). Turns into spa adjunct with water feature when showers being used in last 2 hours or so of flight.

Thanks for the heads up. Good to know. Have never seen it open. Will ask a FA on the next trip for the hours.

Agree the QF bar/lounge area is not extravagant, but I still appreciate the space to get up and about.

A few years ago in overnight SIN-LHR flight, I woke up early and could not get back to sleep. I went to the lounge for a stretch and chat and a couple of other early birds were there to chat with.

I tried the bar on the EK A380 on the AKL-MEL leg on Saturday evening. It's a very nice setting, with curved couches on either side and some room to stand at the bar. There are snacks on display and it seems they will also rustle up some hot snacks on request.

However, while the fight was pretty quiet (it looked like maybe 50-60% loading) the bar was fairly crowded each time I was in that part of the plane. Some people appeared to have set up camp there and it was difficult to get through - one guy seemed really annoyed when I asked to get past him. I didn't see any children there, but I didn't stop very long, really just waited to have a drink made and went back to my seat (which suited me fine). It wouldn't have been especially relaxing staying down at the bar on my own.

Perhaps due to the not so busy flight, flight attendants chatting with passengers added somewhat to the numbers around the bar area.

Sounds like a gathering ground for cheap p***head bogans already!

Whats this thing they are always showing in their ads.

She doesn't look too confident on the Perfect Manhattan recipe  Do they stop serving alcohol flying over the Gulf states?

The EK bar was NOT full of bogan p***-guzzlers, everyone was relaxed and friendly. The food was great, the drink selection was extensive (although they strangely ran out of Grey Goose after about 4 hours (but I don't think they started with a full bottle)). I think I spent 5 of the 14 hours just sitting in there reading or talking with my partner and the fellow passengers. It was never genuinely crowed. Loved it and was probably the second best part of the EK J experience after the seat.

People were coming down from F to the bar.

So for a dummy like me what is F class. Are Upper Middle Class Bogans permitted in the bar? :D

F = First class
J = Business Class

If you get a ticket in the respective class then you can sit there.

On QFi either class can use the bar.

This "thing" they always show is the bar area at the rear of the upper deck. It is available to both F & j pax

It's not a great place to hang out. When the curtains are closed (ie. most of the flight) it's a bit cramped and unappealing, plus the plebs down the main stairs in Y will be looking up at you. Also, the 2 shower attendants sometimes hangout there - which seems a bit creepy to me.

Question: were any of the people at the bar in their pyjamas? I thought about going for a wander down to the bar on my last flight but it seemed kinda weird to be hanging out at a bar in my jammies...

I can remember on the forum awhile ago one AFF asking if they can get allocated seats at the bar...

LOL

Well, I was wearing tracksuit pants, an old jumper and awful, cheap canvas shoes ... basically my long-haul uniform. Certainly not 'dressed' by any means. Most people were in very comfortable clothes.

I think the bar is the single best place to hang out.

As an entrepreneur, the networking opportunities that exist at the bar are phenomenal

We flew back from Dubai via Hong Kong on CX... and while we loved the seats and service... we just kept grumbling... "I want the bar"

Bar + internet = best ever.
Right there I'd pay $1000 more for the ticket over another airline..... but EK is already cheaper... lol... no brainer who gets the business!

Sat at the EK mile high bar for 7 hours on the way to Gallipoli/Turkey. Had the best time, it was so good I am seriously thinking of breaking all my previous pleads about flying EK. Nothing better than good conversation, and a scotch and cola.
