Is International Virgin Reward availability now worse that QANTAS?

Thanks CJEMNMAC. I was looking at around May next year - I'll try September to November.

May I suggest also searching one way at a time...

May 11 - 15 next year shows 1 seat ( only searched 1 seat ) SYD - LHR on EY flights nearly everyday.. 125000 pts plus about $85 tax..

To be honest I don't think the value is there to USA either. In my opinion 94,000 Velocity points is a lot of points for a one-way business class to USA. Not saying is better either but at least for 140,000 QFF I can go round the world.

The counter balance to that is the tax situation. If you are flush with points, you could get return J to LAX for 188,000 and less than $200 taxes. VA have always been higher on points but a lot lower than QFF, SQ and others on taxes.

No, VA's point on redemption is always a bit less on compatible route on VA or EY. Eg, SYD-LAX is 94k in J with VA, 96k with QF. But on SQ is way too expensive so it's cheaper to convert to KF. (There are other airline partners that I don't bother to remember)

1.2 million VA points and almost impossible to use them. Trying to get 2 x j seats to the US ( heck even just get me to LAX )from june/august and have even resorted to 1xadult 1xchild one day and the other adult and child on the next. Have 200k in qantas and whilst not great you can at least see seats still available in that time frame.

It's cough, I know. Would you be interested in going the long way? You might have more luck on SQ.

Have just noticed that VA have finally started to show some love & released some J reward tickets to LAX next year

what is the best way to look for J tickets? Through the Virgin website or try to use Deltas?
Looking for answer too. Expertflyer hasn't helped find any availability. For domestic I am also struggling. Why can't virgin show flights from Tamworth to Launceston? It can only manage to do a single connecting flight.

My struggles with the website and lack of availability compared to QF is forcing me to give up chasing V points and spend what I have on gift cards.

Redeemed fairly easily about 4 years ago for a couple of BNE-LAX flights, looks like I'll have to be monitoring this thread and Virgin like a hawk when my future dates become available

Went to check award availability for my planned VA29/VA30 flights in June next year, looks like they are now being operated by EY. Unless this is a VA website error (not entirely unlikely), there goes any chance of an upgrade, or even a paid PE seat. :(

Interesting ... that could suggest the refurbs of the 77W are expe4ct to still be happening in June.

... checking, VA29 goes off schedule after 30th January and resumes 26th July.

Just checked my booking, existing VA29/30 now cancelled and I'm tentatively rebooked on an EY flight instead. Downgraded from PE to tight Etihad economy, ugh. Will wait for Virgin to get in touch to confirm these new flights, I suppose.

Not sure if the refit is triggering a change in availability, but there are now available J reward/award seats on dates in July/August which definitely weren't available to/from LAX (VA1/2/7/8) when I booked mine a few weeks ago.

Here's hoping once things settle down we return to the good/sensible old days...

what is the secret to finding J fares at or close to the minimum points values? The flights I am looking for are December next year so not yet available but the November flights are over 4x the minimum points value.
