Is Citi Plus still the best option for overseas cash? Obviously I haven't done a lot of international travel since 2019.

If I have to open some other account it might be time to get started, since we depart in five weeks.

(I'm set for FX-fee-free purchases, with a US Amex Gold backed with a Coles Rewards Mastercard and a Bundll account which charges to my Dragon Visa.)

Do they cover other banks ATM fees? Or just their own?
Just had the thought of using this with the foreign citi ATMs I'm already using.
Do not know the exact answer, but:
Just returned from Bali, and tried to use a Ubank spend card in a CIMB ATM to draw cash. ATM wanted to change a 12% fee. From the same ATM, used a Citi Debt card, and no fee charged.

Citi don’t cover other ATM fees in the way ING did but they definitely have a large network or reciprocal free ATMs. Some might be free for other banks too (or everyone) but many were a Citibank thing.
Sadly we’ll lose that. Not sure any other fee free card on the market has a network worth talking about, now

ING still have their own ATMs in many places for no fee withdrawals. Not sure how widespread the network is relative to others.

Yep. Was definitely useful in Thailand (albeit only a handful of Citi machines) and Japan.
And also in the US where many machines have surcharges.

ING have overseas atms? Did not know that at all.
Neither did I until this (post 136/137):

Very useful in Thailand today, less than 5 minutes walk from where I am. Don't rely on Google Maps info, as while the one closest to me does indeed close at 3.30pm when the branch does, what it doesn't let you know is that there is also a 24 hour ATM on the 2nd floor. Perfect.

Sure do, Dutch bank as mentioned and a few other countries. Romania had some ING branches when I was there last week.

Also, there are banks that do not charge ATM fees.

I found ATM Fee free withdrawals at CIMB Machines in Kuala Lumpur.
I found that ING charges a fee for not using their own ATM i.e. before they ended the international fee rebate they still charged $5 at an OS atm which they rebated even when the atm owner itself didnt charge a fee to use, so ended up being part of the 5 free withdrawals.. so stupid

Yes, Thailand especially. Used Citi Sukhumvit branch (ATMs outside branch) on the main corner there opposite Terminal 23, whereas Thai ATMs generally charge quite a large fee.

In Japan, I used 7-Bank (7-11) ATMs and no fee ever charged. Didn't need to find Citi.

Most the big banks do this for their accounts - but don’t rebate! 😳
