Is $7600 AUD good value to upgrade Emirates Premium Economy to Business, for SYD - LHR, for 3 adults & 1 child?

It seems to me to be good value, at least compared to the same upgrade on the return leg (Athens to Sydney) which is over $19K AUD....

These are the prices quoted on the Emirates website, to upgrade with cash. We are travelling in Apr & May 2024.

For four? Seems exceptional value.

Sounds almost too good, it is for both legs SYD -DXB -LHR ?

Last time I flew ATH-DXB-MEL (Oct 22) I paid $7k cash for EK First outright, no upgrade.
$19k for 4 one-class upgrades seems way over the top.

I'd seriously consider it depending on what I originally paid for the PE tickets.
I paid about $21.5K for SYD-DXB-LHR & ATH-DXB-SYD. For 3 adults (2 oldies and a 13YO) and 1 child (10YO). Now that same fare is over $23K.

So an extra $7.6K for business class SYD-DXB-LHR sounds really good.

Yes it's for SYD-DXB-LHR.

Does it say you're getting the full package?

I wonder if the discounted upgrade still includes lounge access, chauffeur drive and seat selection (which the cheapest business class fares don't).

Yeah it's full package - I'm able to book the chauffeur, and I've made seat selections.

I went ahead and booked the upgrade because it seemed so good.

Earlier this year we bought 2 J tickets SIN-DXB-FRA for ` $5000 for the 2. However it was a special fare and didn't include lounge access (not a problem as Mrsdrron is WP so we got access at SIN and had no time for a lounge anyway at DXB.
However it also didn't include seat selection until 24 hours before the flight and at that time we had been allocated 2 middle seats in J in widely separated rows. Yes the EK 777 in J has a 2-3-2 set up. So we got there early and were with some trouble able to get 2 seats together with me in the middle seat. Fortunately the DXB -FRA flight was on a 380. The fact that the upgrades were so much cheaper than the return legs makes me suspicious that they are indeed an EK J fare.
The fact that you could select your seats means it could well be normal J.

As far as I'm aware it's a normal J ticket.....it's come up as a Flex fare. (Not a Special fare which I think have limitations).

The ATH - DXB sector on the return leg is on a B777 - maybe the J tickets are almost sold out on that or something ;)

Seems really exceptional offer ; I am having a similar ticket on QR and they quoted me around 27 grand to upgrade for 3 of us from AUS to ITA in late May/early June.

Surely that was to upgrade the round trip?
yes , it was to upgrade the round trip. I was looking at upgrading only the long legs in the itinerary but I was told they booked me on a through ticket and hence it was either all legs upgrade or nothing.
