I don’t see what could be enabled in an iOS update that would make security alarms go off

Me either, but it didn't happen before the upgrade. It first happened when I entered the store, so knew there was something wrong, but when it happened at two different stores. I can even wave the phone near the security devices at the doors and it activates.

For my recent trip in London & Europe I had and used alot the following applications that didn't always require to be on the internet.

CurCon - currency convertor
Metro Paris - fantastic app
London Tube
Discover - wifi transfer doc's flight details / bookings from computer to phone

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Instead of this have a look at XE Currency which is free and you can adjustment how often it connects

I prefer the Frommer's Travel Tools ; which has a great currency converter. I find it a much more intuitive interface plus some of the other tools in the app are good.

Agree with you there. It's a good app. Like the postcard and, someday, tipping feature.

I was actually having a chat about that very feature to an American girl last night, and about tipping in the US etc. She was uber-cool, I saw "P D X" stickered onto her wallet and asked if by chance it was the airport code for Portland. She said it was..

Okay, I've gone all out and ordered a new iPhone 4 (16GB). On back order, due in 4 weeks. Now I will need to get all of these apps on it (particularly the Paris Met one - I've got an English wife, so no need for the Underground one :D)

Agree Paris Metro and London Tubemap are both great apps and must-haves if travelling in either city.

I've been using Tubemap extensively since arriving here. The great one I like is the 'route' function where you can punch in the 2 stations and it will tell you either the quickest way to get there or the least changes way of getting there.

But if you get it you can say you’ll take this line and that line and seem smarter :p

I found a great one today - its called Planefinder and Planefinder AR. Gives you the current spot of planes an flight numbers/designation/flight plan etc. It's fascinating really! Certainly wasted a bit of my download today!

A few months under the bridge since the last post on this thread - what apps are at the top of the list now? For me: Foursquare, Twitter, Facebook, Drawsome, Scrabble

Consume; TED Talks; Kindle; Facebook; Fritz!App; RunKeeper and AroundMe are my current favourites.

Spending way too much time in China but I cannot survive without China Taxi Book - also Message Template very useful as I can build inventory of standard text msgs to repeatedly send staff back in Oz without recreating them time and time again.

HeyTell still my favourite App of all time - Siri on 4S makes life so much easier now not needing to type msgs with my fat fingers.

Jeez I wish I could get Google Sky on iPhone.

Never have / never will use Facetool / coughter or whatever those others are - amazing how we are all different huh.

Still don’t really understand Twitter but said this very thing myself about Facebook – until I actually started to use it. It’s fantastic for feeling closer to those regrettably at a distance.

But Kate - we are both in Melbourne - we can get together any time.:)

Although strictly not an App, I find Siri annoying. She can understand me when I'm not in a hurry but when I really really just want to Phone Office...she just doesn't get it.

As for not finding "addresses outside the United States and when not using US English" even though the TV advert clearly shows her doing it...also annoying but also misleading.

Facebook yes - Twitter I also just don't get.

It doesn't do anything that FB doesn't. Eg. If I want to see my friends' status updates, I can see it on Twitter or I can see the same thing on Facebook plus a whole lot more.

Twitter only seems relevant for following celebs or companies.
