Hello,

Very long term lurker, I've learnt so much and wish my first post could have been helpful info for others and not a question...or a hope for reassurance!

Basic story is:

1. Gold renewal due 08/05, to re qualify I needed 80 sc and 4 flight segments
2. Looked at a straight status run OOL/SYD/MEL return, priced out at approx $1,100....ouch!
3. Young grandson in Arizona....BNE/SYD/LAX return, sale on and about same price. Hit all requalifying marks.
4. Outbound BNE/SYD cancelled (storm in Sydney) re-routed BNE/LAX.

Return home today, 40 sc's for the outbound have posted. I ring the gold help desk and ask for the original booking flight segments, in particular, and sc's to be credited. The help desk can't help and I need to email in the request, which I have done.

i guess my question is, what is the likelihood of this happening? When today's flights post I'll have the 400 sc's, but now be 1 flight segment short. Yes....I know I shouldn't have left this until the last minute. If a panic situation is required I could throw in a OOL/SYD/OOL on Thursday, which is the day before review date.

My jet lagged brain is bleeding

That's a good question. Do you get credited for a sector on a ORC claim?

** Edit - I can't see it mentioned on the VFF site. Shortcut would be to phone the Gold line or PM the VFF rep on this site.

Initial phone call to the gold line was slightly less than helpful. He initially couldn't see my problem, then said he couldn't help and I'd need to email with the request. I was sure I'd read on here that it could be done, search turned up nothing...but that is just as likely to be me

Getting the SC's and points shouldn't be a problem, I'm just not sure if you get the squiggle.

Ask for original routing credits, and highlight the fact you booked this route to get the SC and the required flights to meet status req. they should be able to fix this

It should be a simple call to explain.

make sure you keep it simple and don't get off track....

eg I was booked BNE SYD LAX , however due to storm , I travelled BNE LAX . I want to be credited the additional points/ SC for the original routing. Mention your review date is this week and you want to ensure that it credits in time ... keep it simple !!!

Email received from the contact centre has had the membership confirmed for the following 12 months. This is after "careful consideration and full review of your account", and is a "one off".

Yes, I am pleased I've maintained. Yes, I am annoyed that there is no mention of cancelled flight being the reason I didn't achieve, the original booking, and payment, would have put me there.

Ah, well, lesson learnt....don't leave qualifying levels until the last minute
