Anyone else a bit confused about the QF Lounge entry criteria for guest?

As a QF WP the rule for guests is: "One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight."

As a OWE the rule for guests is: "One guest allowed and must be travelling on a oneworld operated and marketed flight."

So If am a WP/OWE and I want to guest someone in, who is travelling on a QF flight, but not the same QF flight as me, which rule gets precedence?

This has been discussed before but I haven't had time to search for the thread. IIRC QF issued a clarification that the OWE allowance has priority over its own allowance. Happy to stand corrected on that.

The "consensus" is that if your flight is a JQ or a QF marketed flight operated by a non-Oneworld airline (EK, SB, MU), then the Qantas rules apply. If you are booked on a Oneworld marketed and operated flight (including QF flight), then the Oneworld guesting rules can apply (you basically pick the most generous rules, e.g. a QF WP can bring 2 guests in dom J lounge, so better than Oneworld allowance).

A WP or SG should get the most lenient rule applied; the oneworld rule when flying oneworld marketed or operated (including QF*QF) and Qantas when not (e.g. flying EK/JQ).

However, it seems many lounge entrance staff misinterpret this and try to apply the more restrictive rule.

Here's an interesting post: Guesting into lounges query
