Husband and I are both platinum. When we travel on Qantas are we able to guest any travelling on OneWorld or must it be on our flight ?
If we are travelling 1st does that make a difference to guest rules ?

You'll need to specify which lounge you are asking about - is it a Qantas lounge or other OW lounge? They all have their own individual rules.

The thread you refer to is mostly used for domestic lounges, and depending on the traveller's status their guests do not necessary need to be travelling at all!

Specifically Qantas lounge 1st class Sydney
Which is were we travel out from

I have in the past guested the person behind me in Tokyo into JAL 1st class lounge but she was on the same flight . I was flying Qantas back to Sydney

If entering as a QF F passenger or QF Platinum: One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight.
If entering as a OW F or OWE: One guest allowed and must be travelling on a oneworld operated and marketed flight.

Ironically it appears OWEs get more flexibility with guesting than QF's own Plats.

In that situation, you would have been entering under OWE rules (QF flight, JL lounge) so would've been able to guest anyone on a OW flight.

Ahh thank you sbor . Thanks makes ... kinda odd sense. So i will phrase my offer as can guest one into first if on qf ( our next flight)
Really appreciate the explanation

I am still confused. Next month, i will be on QF and my colleague is on BA to SIN. Our departure time is about 30 min apart. Can I guest him into F lounge as a QF Platinium by claiming the OWE rules?

I think the official response is YMMV :)

Today, I checked with an online agent and had an unequivocal answer that "OneWorld rule will apply" and that I can bring a guest with me provided that she/he is on an OneWorld flight. You can see from the transcript that I had to show her the link of the OneWorld rule. I have a screen shot and transcript of the exchange just in case.

Good luck - I have found if heading into a OW lounge as QF FF they consider the more relaxed OW rules apply, but if a QFi lounge as QF FF they use the (more restrictive) QF rules.

That being said - I wonder what the Flounge in LAX is, given I thought it was technically a OW lounge..?

I can confirm that it works out fine. Turn up at the lounge, no prob getting thru the man down stair. To the front desk,

Lounge dragon (LD): guest must be on the same flight, sir.
Me: I have checked with QF before coming here.
LD: I have to check with my manager. LD turned around and ask the lady next to her.
Manager: yes, that is fine.
LD: but...
Manager: charge it to QF99.
LD: welcome sir!

In short, QF has now come to term that they have to follow OneW rule.
