Quick question which I'm sure has been asked many times (my searches can't find it ... sorry), but what table do I use for an short haul int points upgrade that has no PE? Is it the international economy to business table (zone 2 - 12000 points) or do they use the PE upgrade table as economy to business is effectively only a one class upgrade on short haul, not a two class upgrade as it is in long haul?

In relation to the above question, my specific request is BNE-POM (QF fly a 738 and J is sold). I think I confused the QF calculator as it does not recognise BNE-POM but when I try CNS-POM (a link service on a dash 8) it shows an up grade to PE (which it doesn't have) at 5000 pts but to business (which it also doesn't have) as being a horrendous 124000.

A dash 8 also doesn't have J so there's nothing to upgrade to. ..

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I'm struggling to work out how I find out which table to use when the calculator is clearly wrong. The 5000 points shown sort of indicates the calculator is using the PE table (I think).

The calculater is guff. It still doesn't recognise BNE-CHC as a route despite having been available for months and a seasonal flight before that.

I would just use the calculator for a different destination that falls within the same distance bracket.

So is miles a mile, or a nautical mile? Does QF give a mileage calculator anywhere or is there a good site which represents QFs idea of miles (which seem to differ on various sites)?

You have to rely on the calculator as QF miles don't equal real miles.
As I discovered the first time I flew KUL-BKK.

I feared as much ... and that would be the calculator that doesn't work?

I have been able to get it to work by adding a second flight and reloading the page and playing around with it but I can't remember eactly what I did, sorry.

You could use the points / status credits calculator to find out how many miles QF thinks it is.

A discount economy to business upgrade is the same cost on the same route irrespective of whether a PE cabin is sold or not.

Do QF have the same zones for earn (SCs), as well as burn (points)? VA certainly don't.
Not these days. Before "Simpler and Fairer" Mk 1, the zones were basically aligned. Since then, no.

Earn is now based on 750mile/1500Mile/... zones while burn zones are based on 600miles/1200miles/... etc.

Which wreaks a grevious injustice on routes such as PER-ADL where the earn is so much less than PER-MEL/SYD/BNE but the points required for bookings and upgrades are the same.

Same as VA, so we can blame them for the slide in fairness?

On MMB page, you could press the upgrade button for the booking and it will quote you the required number of points. There is (I think) two further clicks/steps before you commit to requesting an upgrade (even then you can cancel at no penalty right?)
