Inexperienced flyers are causing a few headaches for India's budget airlines, with one carrier reporting a passenger trying to open a door mid-flight...

I've flown domestic in India several years ago and it wasn't much of an issue then (in fact I would even say it was better than I usually have in Australia) - but of course the number of and options available now compared to 5yrs ago are exponential increases.

Can't say I've had any unpleasant experiences in that time - other than the usual (particualrly Asian phenomena) of people rushing to the doors when boarding commences - seats are pre-allocated right???), and the usual standing up while plane still taxiing issues. But that happens even on peak hours MEL>SYD flights.

I'll be doing a few domestic hops in India next week, I'll do a full report of the trip when I return.

... On one occasion, a passenger tried to open a door shortly before take-off while a flight circling around Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing after a group of passengers approached the coughpit to complain. ...

I hope this is actually two incidents being reported here, not one.

ie. One of PAX trying to open a door and the other relating to a group of PAX unhappy with a long holding pattern.

Australian (and world) travellers are just as naive and/or stupid at times.

There are countless incidents of silly people trying to open plane doors, or rushing towards the exit as soon as the plane lands. Not to mention drunk passengers becoming unruly.

This isn't a new phenomenon at all.

Well I've just recently returned fro India including a couple of short domestic hops wiht Kingfisher and Jet Airways. No problems whatosever, in fact their service was comparable to that offered by QF.

It's not the airlines that are creating havoc for Indian Air Travellers - its the airport authorities.

Ah, that was me.

You know how it is. You have a few ales, they bring round the warm casserole, the plane goes round and round in a holding pattern, and your head and stomach do the same thing. Naturally, you want to wind down the window and let the slipstream deal with the problem.
