Some things that occurred to me that novice cruisers may not know.

There is likely to be only one Aussie power point per cabin. Might be an idea to bring some adapters if you have multiple things you will want to plug in. Cruise lines don't like powerboards due to the fire hazard.

The cosmetics prices onboard will be duty free :):D My experience on previous 'Australian waters' cruises is that the shop will also sell duty free alcohol and cigarettes while we are at sea. I've never bought either of the latter so I don't know what the storage requirements are. I highly doubt that you are allowed to take duty free alcohol back to your cabin with you ;) The casino may or may not be open while we are at sea (will be closed when in port obvs) - I vaguely remember that one state would not allow the casino to open even when we were off the state's coastline and not in port?? Can't remember which state though.

Do you mean that there will be multiple power points, but only one of them will take AU plugs?

We can work it out.

(Good name for a song)

There's 2 bars that I'd be interested in visiting if anyone wants to come. 2 tram** stops north of the Hilton, or about 500 metres. One is Pink Moon Saloon and the other one is Bank Street Social (which does $10 pizza on Wednesdays :p) Both recently won awards apparently.

** Tram is free within CBD

Have only cruised on the high end lines , always take a power board with some usb outlets, never had any issue…
How else can one charge two phones , two camera's, extra camera batteries , a laptop and an ipad… :)

We are in our cabin, before midday. Easy embarkation. It helps being Platinum. We'll try to go to the dining room for lunch. It's a bit early for us as we're still on Perth time. Cabin looks good.
Did you get the text telling you of the staggered embarkation time and did you ignore it?

Mmm, Ms Platinum love_the_life I think we will try for an early embarkation.

It is a stunning day in Adelaide today btw.

Also, we just got the email re changing our booking and I just had the phone call. Desperate times indeed. If you dont use all the OBC from the cancellation then they will send you a cheque for the balance so it is effectively a free 10 day cruise plus this trip is refundable, there is also $250 air credit and up to $250 cancellation expenses.

I have a multi USB charger with US points that I just remembered about last night. I'm packed now. The powerboards may be seized if unlucky. Hairdryers too maybe. Fire risks etc

We were emailed that we could board any time after midday. We were packed and ready to leave the hotel so got to the port around 11:30. In our cabin by 11:45. Pretty impressive.

I don't get how they can overbook cruises - do they oversell the 'stateroom category guarantee' bookings or something? Surely they don't allow 2 different bookings to be confirmed for a specific cabin number? Presumably the majority of people book for a specific cabin, so surely Princess know how many cabins they have left to sell. Anyone have any insight on this?
I just realised that I had not answered this. It was explained to me by the future cruises lady that the maximum passenger occupancy is 120% of the two person occupancy of all the staterooms.
From that I take it that it would be easy to overbook by passenger numbers even if some cabins were empty.

The offer has now increased so things must be getting tight indeed. I didnt see any guarantee bookings for this cruise so they are clearly over by passenger numbers if not actual cabins sold.

We just had lunch with a couple who received the offer, including a full refund, another cruise of up to 8 days/nights? duration and some speciality dining. They are from Melbourne but still didn't want to take up the offer. Partly because there aren't many cruises in and out of Melbourne. Have the offers got better and better? They said that the refund went onto your next cruise as cabin credit but any unused portion was refundable. Not so good if you choose a replacement cruise well into the future.

Yep, now its a 10 day cruise, refund as OBC (or cheque if unused); $250 flights credit, $250 expenses reimbursement with receipts.
