I'm in the VA Lounge thread

Anyone with gold or platinum Virgin status can guest me into the Virgin brisbane lounge Tuesday afternoon next week (27th) ?
Flying out but not on Virgin
i am flexible with the time

I know this is technically not VA lounge, but Air New Zealand lounge. Anyone at BNE international (23/10/15). I can guest 1 (just gone from plat to gold) and we are a party of 4 and just been told Air New Zealand have stopped payment entry. If anyone can assist with guesting 2 that would be appreciated. Thanks.

If anyone will be in the new VA Perth lounge on December 3 around 7-8pm and can guest up to 3, please let me know!

In exchange, paying it forward, I can guest 3 to the QF Business lounge in BNE Jan 29 (but I will post that in the appropriate forum ;) )

Has anyone had the recent experience of having the lounge dragons insist on scanning your guests' boarding passes as well as your own? This doesn't make any sense to me, as IIRC your guests don't even need to be travelling.

I encountered this for the first time over the weekend, both departing SYD and when I asked upon arriving in MEL, was told (rather bluntly too I must say) that this was now the norm, and they will be making sure that the guests depart at the same time as me. I tried to scan my card first, but it was rejected (presumably because I was after arrival access, which needs to be manually checked?).

Anyway on the way back, I scanned my card, picked the right number of guests... and we were inside, no time wasted, and the lounge dragon even smiled from the counter.

Why the inconsistency?

I was told that the system now checks eligibility (hence the slow processing). You used to be able to scan card and instantly select number of guests without any processing time. Now, it takes a few seconds to check your booking (I assume).

The guest thing is weird though – they don't even have to be flying? Or so I thought?

Happened to me and a colleague in the premium entry in bne on monday. They insisted on seeing my colleague's boarding pass and I told them he wasn't flying, the were surprised.
