Is it confirmed that I get platinum IHG if I join up and am already an Ambassador?

Apparently so. This seems to be a pretty good deal. Although platinum is not worth much in Oz, it does seem to have some redeeming features OS. eg.. as a platinum IHG member, I was given a further 25% off F&B at CP Yass Island ... as well as a room upgrade ... as well as a personally signed welcome card from the guest relations manager ... as well as a large fruit platter ... all on a "cheap as chips" points + pay reward booking. IHG rarely impresses me, but that particular CP has given me very little to whine about! ;)

Its quote good in OZ IME.

Hi. Hope someone can help, have a stay coming up this weekend, still no Dining Rewards card. Activated on 27/11/14 does it normally take that long?
We must have joined same time. Pack arrived between Christmas and New Year.

This program is useless and customer service even worse.

The 10% discount on Best Flexible, Advance Rate and Advance Booking rates are selective and based on availability. I can't see this mentioned anywhere on website.

I'm OT a bit, but I just searched the AMB weekend cert rate at SIN and I can buy two nites at S$246.50 per nite (Gov't rate), two nites at S$261 (AAA rate) or I can use the cert and get each nite for S$290. A bit of a lucky dip really and sort of makes a mockery of the BOGO bit. I also note the "no penalty" cancellation time is 2 days before the stay. I'm not sure if this is just SIN or whether this is an IHG change globally.

Your actually buying one night at 290 and getting the second free, once booked the hotel will do your upgrade and adjust the rate to be 145 per night. It's a quirk of their booking system that it does not show $0 for the second night, it also allows you get both nights as qualifying

Average Nightly Rate S$ 290.00 SGD per room, per night
Fri 30 Jan 2015 - Sun 01 Feb 2015 S$ 290.00 SGD per night (1 room(s))
Service Charge ‡ S$ 58.00 SGD
Total Tax ‡ S$ 44.66 SGD
Estimated Total Price ‡ S$ 682.66 SGD

Unlike Hilton which now have a standard 24 hours or worse before checkin cancellation clause, IHG still vary it by hotel, most of mine are same day 6PM

Many thanks. So are you saying it will be a total of S$682.66 divide by 2 (S$341.33) or S$290 + S$58 + S$44.66 (S$392.66)?

Pack arrived today

Hope you got a good deal on the F&B e-rewards, might make up for lack of availability in some regions.

It will be half as the tax and service charge are a % of rates paid

Thanks markis10, you never cease to amaze me. I might do just that as I've got a Sat. night booked as a points reward for 50000 which I'd get back but the timings of flights are what concerned me. We arrive into SIN at 0755 on a Sat. morning and depart 2340 on the Sun. I was hoping for an early check-in and the 1600 check-out, but I may as well use the cert. for either Fri and Sat night or Sat and Sun night. I'm sort of leaning toward the Fri and Sat night as the Fri flight only departs at 0130 from CMB and I reckon all we'll want to do is get to the hotel for a shower and breakie.

I got $100 but according to website it is one time use only where accepted. I don't stay in Australian IHG hotels.

By the way the sales pitch was a lie. I asked can I use the card to purchase a beer in different hotels with different stays and the answer was YES. Customer care is ignoring me. I cannot get any higher up the support chain.

Is twitter the way to go? I may have to break my rule.

I feel if you're that unhappy, perhaps you should send an email of your dissatisfaction to ihg head office. Even one to the Australian branch. I do feel an email has more punch than a tweet. Good luck with your pursuit.

How do I get to head office without going through call centre?

Why all the benefits so restrictive when there is no mention of restrictions on website. Hidden meanings in fine print?

Can you contact anyone through ihgdiningrewards.com.? Or 1800 600 022 ask to speak to a manager, don't forget to collect names along your way. Great reference if needed

Well you can use the 25% off F&B card on multiple stays in different hotels but you may have been asking about the $100.

As a data point, I have been able to book using the 25% off best flex rate twice. Check-in staff forgot to collect the certificate first time (didn't have it on me anyway) and website just allowed me to use the rate again.

Thanks for the data point.

I have been asking about the 10% discount which is unrestricted on the website but apparently comes with tight restrictions including limited availability.

I understand the 25% off had to be used once and can be up to 7 nights. If one can use it multiple times then that is a bonus.

As for the food and beverage credit that is a farce.

Certificate? I thought the new dining rewards were all e-certificates. ie, in your account only. Do they post out paper ones or are you referring to PP certs?

I received a cardboard 25% off BFR certificate in my welcome pack, which I now remember arrived in the mail after I had already used it.

I had thought it was all e-certificates but maybe not.

Rate details on booking states certificate must be redeemed upon check-in.
