I don't know the answer to most Qantas "security" questions!

When I logon to the Qantas website, I get this:

Qantas security questions 1.jpg

So I click the link but it doesn't tell me anything.

I assume it's my missing Security questions?

So I go to add them and get this:

Qantas security questions 2.jpg

You need to give three security question answers. Or at least one!

But then to the questions:

Qantas security questions 3.jpgQantas security questions 4.jpgQantas security questions 5.jpg

I actually don't know the answer to most of them !! I can only, at best, answer two. (I'm 39+ years old :) )

OK, I could just put something in, but then I have to remember what I said.

Is it only me? Or are the questions a bit silly?

There seems to be a LOT of childhood questions there, which might be a stretch for a (slightly :) ) older person.

Got me wondering which ones I chose? 😳 I must check those in case I have phone troubles….

I only ever use the mobile 2FA…

I noticed this a few weeks ago. I knew none of them but I was able to reset them. The questions they ask are nonsense, and not something I'd use as a normal security question so I took a screenshot of the answers.

Absolutely this.

This is exactly why I hate this sort of thing.

I had to close an ANZ credit card account because they added this system in order to log in to online banking and I couldn't give answers to any of the preset "security" questions.

If something is going to have "security" questions, they have to allow the user to enter their own questions, not be forced to select from a preset list.

Of the 10 questions in those screen caps, I can answer 1.

Your answers don’t have to be true you know. They don’t know the answers. So do what I do and just put the same text in there for all that your remember, so something like “it’s all mine” :) or ”the answer is yes” .

The Qantas questions came up during the week for me.
Problem is I can’t remember if I use my cousins maiden name or recently married name, 3rd grade teacher no idea, and should the answers have capitals or all lower case.
And I try and use real answers or I be struggling to remember how I answered.

I don’t use the questions at all. I just select the text message option for 2FA,
Much less hassle.

As I have done. Ages ago.

So I hope that QF stop with the online screen shot that I posted first!

The link, when I click on it, doesn't even tell you what they want. :(

I assumed it was the security questions, but who knows?

Their Q, and then your answer, esp your answer, do not have to make sense, as mentioned, or do not have to be true.
You can Meekat to fav teachers name, or Holden as your first street, or Ilovemydog as an answer to any of the questions.
Its unlikely scammers will know the answers.
Get yourself a fingerprint touch phone when you upgrade your phone, that can solve half the problems.
But granted, if you do forget the answers to any of the 3, and need to reset your answers, you are the mercy of the outsourced call centre ops, unless you are WP/P1/CL and can get HBA.
Worst is if the scammers succeed in porting your phone number, that is one of the worst.

But the more you 'lie', you know you won't remember. Just take a screenshot.

I use Authenticator for QFF but just recently I had to answer the security questions. Maybe it was Qantas money, Health or one of those related ones. I assumed either work experience folk had been in charge or another enhancement.

Was just going make the same comment- it’s not as if Qantas will verify you teacher’s name against some database. Why not use “Qantas” as your answer for all questions?
