Hi team,

Hope we're well

My wife, daughter and I are due to fly out from Syd to LAX on Tuesday 8 September. I purchased my ticket and my wife's via QFF, and purchased my daughter via the contact centre. I can see my daughter's flight in the Qantas app however cannot make any seat selection (i thought it was because she was purchased separately).

I call Qantas today and they state whilst the funds successfully left my account and were received by Qantas, the ticket wasn't issued - no explanation why. The team at Qantas are saying they want to refund back onto my card, then me purchase again, which will take 5-10 business days!

Seriously - what a ridiculous suggestion.

Is there a way to contact the onshore team to speak with someone reasonable? I can tell by the long pauses they don't know how to resolve.

Thanks
Michael

Never heard of that before.
And it is ridiculous that QF says 5-10 business days for a cash refund especially when there are no complex itineraries to unwind.

I would HUACA - hang up and call again, Hopefully you will get a different call centre.

This is only for reward tickets (ie: purchased with points). The OP has purchased with cash. I don't think it will help much to use this email. I would suggest HUACA - as has been subsequently suggested - and keep doing so until you get a competent operator who can sort your problem out over the phone.

Suggest you ring at 0700 as this is when the callc centre opens

The unissued ticket is a cash fare though, not related to the redemptions. OP has not mentioned APIS completion which may be the hold up in the first place.

I don't read it this way. The OP alludes to cash purchases via an account and a refund having to go back to a card, as I have highlighted. Now, maybe the "account" is their QFF points account and the "card" is a credit card used for taxes etc. I have no idea on that as the OP was not that specific.

@MelbourneBoy were your tickets paid for with points, cash, a mix of the two or something else?

This is an award ticket, are they talking about the taxes fees and charges?

Unfortunately it does take time to refund.

If it’s just the taxes fees and charges, perhaps that’s the best option to secure your seats.

I’d try calling again and see if another agent can help you without the refund process. If they can’t, you might just have to suck it up.
