Hello
Help needed !
I want to travel London Heathrow to Hobart Tasmania next June but for the second leg (from Singapore) I want the same SQ + VA connecting flights to Tasmania but for 24 hours later. How can I achieve this ? and can it be c. same cost as thhe straight through trip ? I am only new to Krisflyer (silver) and am VA gold. I will book my own hotel stopover because I don't think Singapore airlines offer tran sit stay deals nowadays :(
Many thanks
Julie

Many SQ fares allow this, but I have noticed booking directly with SQ online seems not to work.

Maybe a good travel agent can assist.

Thanks.
I found the only? Workaround.
There are booking options on Singapore airlines site for two different booking flights/routes from Heathrow to Hobart Tasmania and both only have less than 4 hour stops in Singapore, and each have either a Melbourne or Sydney stop before Hobart that are between 4 and 10 hours.
If I make Melbourne the destination instead of Hobart (and book Mel-Hobart separately) then the site shows many options for length of stay in Singapore including 24 and 27 hour layovers.
This will now work for me.

did you try using the multi-city /stopover option?

I tried it on my iphone and seemed very expensive - maybe because only a one way flight is needed (?)
you mean, you want to fly LHR to SIN, stopover for about 24h, then fly SIN-xx_-Hobart?
Price seems same to me on SQ website of around 1000 GBP

Instead of the direct flight option from LHR to HBA , did you try checking the multi city option. Technically it is the same PNR however it's more like two different tickets on the same booking reference.

Hope this helps.

Question for the experts...kind of related. If I fly from home town and arrive at SIN at 22.30 at night with a connection the following day at 09.30 but decide to stay at the Crowne Plaza at SIN overnight what happens with checked baggage? It's all with the one PNR. With SQ. Do I have a choice? Get bags checked all the way to destination and hope it makes the flight the following day without getting lost (probably preferable) or do I pick up bags at SIN and re check-in the following day. Is the latter an option? Looking for advice on what would be the best approach and easiest!

I believe you can through check-in your baggage and don't have to collect at your transit airport. To make it easy , inform the check-in agent at origin and make sure you they check-in the baggage to pick up at destination. Hope this helps.

If you are okay to take the risk of luggage being delayed at your destination then I suppose you are good.

Welcome to AFF @Julietasmania . Sounds like you may have found a way for yourself, but otherwise I would highly recommend using a travel agent. It don’t cost any more and can give you a great many more options than airlines website .

Thanks.

As people have been indicating try multi city for your one way. Just enter the dates you want for each sector. . If still in doubt and are in the UK presently, pop into Trailfinders if there is one near you. They can help.

I have found Webjet and Expedia sell the less popular connections for a very reasonable discount.

e.g. SYD-SIN-BKK/CNX-SIN-BNE with 9hr overnight stopover on first leg from ~$400-$500 cheaper (and some) to what was offered in SQ website.

Yes, I found Kayak was able to book a fare on MH to SIN with stopovers recently for $698 when MH was Quoting $760 but erroring out.

Always thought on the airline site you can manipulate it as such to then show the desired flights and times at the same rate as other sites? I'm sure.i.have done this...

International connections through to HBA are always tricky. SQ seems to offer the long connections in MEL or SYD, rather than SIN. If I ever want a 24 hour stopover in SIN to and from Europe, I tend to use a Hobart-based travel agent, rather than SQ’s multi city. It generally works out cheaper.
