Just out of interest, how many QFF points do you have?

I'm sitting on just over 300,000.

Does anyone know if you can book a AONE4 using points? If so how many are required?

thanks

Chucksta

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

One World Explorer is a paid fare so no cannot use QFF points to purchase. You can however use your points to construct an around the world award

Currently have about 380K in my QF FF account. And 170K in Amex, 130K in Diners and 60K in Visa accounts.

Just emptied my AA account, spending 105K on some very good value awards - more about that will be poseted in my AA migration thread just as soon as I get a chance.

As Kiwi says, you can't use QF FF points for an AONE4 fare. But you can redeem for the OneWorld Award which can be done as an Around The World itinieray, but limited to 35,000 miles maximum. Rules are quite different to OneWorld Explorer rules. You are limited to a maximum of 5 stopovers.

NM, which on-line screen do you book this One-World "Around the World" itinerary from - or is it an assisted booking?

In many cases it will be an assisted booking. I have not done one in a few years and back when I did it, the only option was via the phone. It took me about 10 phone calls over a few weeks to get it all finalised (7 people travelling on two similar but slightly different itineraries).

If all your flights segments can be booked via the on-line system, then the system should automatically build as a OneWorld Award.

Hmmm, 217K in QFF (which will be used for Domestic ODU's and International U seats). Also have 65K in Amex, that could go to either QFF or AA.

Also have 39K AA miles and 15K NorthWest and I'll be spending them in 2006/7.

I'm trying to forget the 4.5K UA miles as they'll wither and die in the program one day soon.

In Economy?

both economy and business. i think i will crack 700,000 by the start of summer this year.

my goal is to go around the world in business class with my wife and get most of our hotel accomodation all on points.

i could have a million by end of 2007 quite easily if i keep it up.

Just tested it and indeed it does.

Interesting that for an around the world trip that if you only use one other airline, say AA and Qantas, then it costs 156000 points for economy.
If you add a 3rd carrier, say BA, then it reduces to 140,000. points. It automatically informs you at completion though whether it has created the itinerary as a Qantas/Partner award or a OneWorld Award.

Great that the options are there to do it all on-line - except for certain QF codeshare destinations - Bahrain etc.

Anyway, sorry to have gone off-thread - mine are QFF 195,000

About 300,000 now all from flying, try to burn them as I earn them after all the points I had been saving with Ansett disappeared overnight:(

Exactly what I do flyer4703. I got stung for 500K points when ansett went belly up. I currently have 280K points and have burnt 306K in the past 6-9 months. I also dont credit any CC points to QF, I take them as cashbacks and gifts.

Measly total compared to the points mentioned already

145,944 QFF points, 58,838 Amex points which will end up in QF account, ~740 KrisFlyer points and 0 Velocity points.

196k in QFF at the moment. I've still got the New York to Sydney plus a Syd-Per-Drw-Adl-Syd part of my DONE4 left to do.. This should get me to about 240k.
As mrs VT01 deplores long flights, this will be used for domestic flights or upgrades.

I have 1,200,000 in QFF and around 1,600,000 on NAB Amex Ant Gold card.

These are 99.5% from credit card spending on my business.

Whilst I have taken a few award first and business class trips over the last two years, I am earning more points than I can use as I don't fly that often.

Also because when I fly I use award tickets, I have no status.

With the NAB Amex points, I can use these to book flights through Harvery World Travel. I am tempted to book an international trip first class through them to get some status, rather than booking an award ticket. I can also use them to book hotel booking.

one9,

With that many ff points I wonder whether its worth while booking an Int'l flight simply to get status. You have more than enough points for many first class flights around the world, and if you continue to earn the same amount of points through your business status might be somewhat irrelevant in your situation.

If you're flying first class, you will get all the benefits of a status pax. You have access the the lounges; won't need status for upgrades, waitlisting etc.

Hi there, I am new to this board and thought I would start with this message.
I currently have 875,000 QFF points, mostly earned via credit card with work purchases. I no longer transfer my points from my westpac altitude card to Qantas since they halved the amount of points you get on transfer. I now use my credit card points for Myers vouchers and the like.

Ever thought about changing your credit card?

I believe it is important to make the most of your spending.

You should try and put everything you can on an Amex card giving you 1.5 points per dollar.
And for everything else you should put on a Visa/Mastercard with the best earning ratio. The Woolworths Mastercard provides a 1 to 1 QFF transfer ratio, but you can no longer sign up for this.

Don't keep a card if you are not getting at least 1 to 1.

I have moved cards a couple of times when rules changed to cap points or reduce the transfer ratio.

If you change to an Amex card make sure it is a card that earn 1.5 points per dollar such as Rewards Maximiser. Some Amex cards only earn 1:1 ffP
