Booked as a stay to finish our time in Bali. We were with a big group over in Legian and most went home but a few of us decided to stay a few more nights and unwind before going our own ways. Couldn’t convince the other two couples to splash out at the Sofitel but thought we would check this place out and hoping Accor would look after us. The property is split by a road with one side being the Garden wing and the other the Beach wing. After a couple of emails back and forth with the property we decided that the Beach wing seemed the quieter side and a lot more peaceful. We booked 3x Teopical Terrace rooms which is the lowest category in the Beach wing. The emails confirmed that they would look after us so was keen what that entailed. On check in we were informed that all 3 rooms were upgraded to Private pool villas. The Villas were pretty decent and consisted of a large bedroom area with a very comfy bed. Bathrooms were outside but undercover and consisted of a nice shower and a spa bath. The villa was surrounded by high walls to ensure privacy and in the garden area was a large lounge area with couches, TV’s and bar fridge that was replenished daily. Provate pool with a comfy cabana and spent lots of time out there. At check-in the manager said they had also upgraded to a package free of charge that consisted of half board, 60 minutes massage per person and daily 1hr free flow drinks.
The resort itself was rather quiet guest wise but is right under the flight path so aircraft taking off around the clock but we got used to it. At all other times the place was relaxing and very quiet compared to across the road which seemed to be heaving and noisy.
Plenty of sun lounges around the main pool and bar area and along the sand. The beach itself is tiny and to be honest pretty ordinary, I didn’t swim in it. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming, fairly smallish selection from each region of Westerns, Indonesian, Indian, Asian and the fruit was lovely but no bacon scores low for me. The half board component is either lunch or dinner from the one restaurant and although the food was quite tasty I think it would get monotonous after a while. The free pour drinks hour can be used at any of the bars around the property and can be taken at any time between 10am and 10pm. Fairly basic set list but found enough choices to get by. Was a relaxing enough stay and we all had a great time but service was a bit clunky and just didn’t have that feel that the better resorts do. The Pool Villa was very nice and we spent most of our time there. Cant say we would definitely go back but perhaps if a similar situation arises. No real complaints but just didn’t have the wow factor outside of the Villa

Rate: $155 per night
Early check in/late out: At check in asked what time our flight was and given room for as long as required. We checked out at 1530
Free internet: Yes, seemed to work fine
Welcome drink: Yes, 2x vouchers for beer, wine. Golds and Plats could also chose a coughtail of the day. I cheekily asked what’s for Diamond then and told have whatever you want
Welcome amenity: Small plate of chocolates
Recommend: Yes, best club lounge at an Accor property in KL.
Staff were absolutely fantastic and made the stay so good. We arrived late at night so just checked in downstairs (you can check in at EL but we got in near midnight)
Received a fantastic upgrade to a Governor suite that had a massive lounge area and a small area with a sink, mini bar and coffee machine. Mini bar replenished daily.
Bathroom was a nice size and shower pressure was good. Not bad views from the room but the biggest fault was the bed was absolutely rock hard to the point I could hardly sleep on the first day. Next day Called up the front desk and they said they would bring up a mattress topper but we went out to do some shopping and when we came back to my surprise they were moving a new bed into our room. Much better and I normally don’t complain too much but even Mrs Jase slept on the couch the first night such was the hardness of the bed.
EL is fantastic and we had Brekky up there every day, smallish buffet with a small but decent set menu of hot foods. I had the chicken rendang rotti boom every day. Coffe was Lao very good plus a wide arrangement of juices. Staff walked around with a fresh batch of croissants straight out of the oven one day too.
EL is open all day and it’s a large space with snacks throughout the day and soft drinks available too.
Afternoon tea had plenty of cakes, desserts and bikkies plus tea and coffee
Evening drinks had a chef preparing small snacks to order plus the usual buffet of cakes, fruits, cheeses etc. staff were very proactive in pouring and refilling alcohol.
Nice pool area and all up a pretty decent property. We love the Bukit Bintang area and Mrs Jase always spends a lot of time over at Pavilion

Early check in/late out: Was able to check in an hour early. Original room not ready, but the upgrade room was.

For 2 nights visiting Mont St Michel, the choice was here (for Accor - there are several hotels in the Caserne area ) or a place on the Mont, which were recommended to have the feel of the Mont when the crows went away. I was happy with the Mercure. Besides being considerably cheaper, and easier if you have luggage, there is a free Mont shuttle bus that leaves 50m away from the hotel and drops back right outside, running every 15 mins, from 6am (I think) to 11pm this time of year (later in full summer). So you can come and go very easily. Its a 3km level walk one way.

The hotel had a motel feel - I'm sure the front bit was a motel at some stage, but its been added to out the back. The room was basic but fine - great aircon, which was needed. Had a fridge. No elevator - if you are on the 1st floor, its you and your luggage up the stairs.

Floors are wood (or wood surfacing) and the chairs had wooden legs, so if you are on the ground floor, as I was, you hear every scrape above you.

Shuttle bus to the Mont. It begins at the public car park outside the Caserne area (which is controlled by a boom gate) and can get crowded at times. It looks like it should have air con capability, but wasn't on while I was there (26 degree days)



The Caserne area has a boom gate. I was unaware of this until 2 days before I arrived when I got an e-mail with an entry code for the gate. Got the ticket on entering the code. However what I didn't realise, and no-one said when I asked if the ticket would get me out and back in again ('Yes.'), is that you had to pay 10 euros a day to be behind the barrier. Its mentioned in the very fine print on the reservation e-mail that there is payment required, but that's all. So add 10 euros/day to your bill if you have a car.

The restaurant/bar for the hotel is the place next door. I only had breakfast there (included) and it was a bit above basic.

Just a weird thing - some tables set out with a tray, others (most) set out normally???

Sorry just saw this. I am travelling currently so not checking back here as much.
At the restaurant, I really liked their grilled octopus and bread. I also had the grilled lamb but felt it was a bit rich for me.
I went to SEN (not Accor) which is around the corner. Slightly pricey but highly recommend if you are still in town for a few days.
