How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Sofitel Darling Harbour is good in that regard, can use the welcome drink voucher at Champagne Bar
Welcome gift and welcome drink are 2 completely different things though.
Never have problems getting decent drinks with the welcome drink vouchers and at some hotels they will offer Diamonds better options.

The welcome gift in your room however is often only a pretty mediocre offering unless it’s a special event. It’s often the De Bortoli rubbish but have received bottles of Laurent Perrier at overseas hotels

Stayed two nights at the Pullman last weekend. I’ve read so many poor reviews for this hotel and wanted to give it a go for myself. It was ‘fine’.

The room was spacious and the bathroom super clean. Room very noisy though (tram and street noise) and no view to speak of. I had to call to ask for slippers and hand towels (and even then they just delivered more face washers?! So not a single hand towel in the room). I enjoyed the filtered water dispenser near the room (there is one on each floor).

Despite lots of mixed reviews, I really enjoyed the lounge. It was much more relaxed than the Sofitel and a beautiful room. The evening drinks and canapés were ‘meh’ but breakfast excellent. Even the coffee was decent, and I don’t turn down breakfast champagne.

Fantastic location right in the middle of main shopping area and Chinatown very close. I will return at the right $rate.

2 night stopover on the way home. Located a very convenient 7 minutes drive from the airport. The complimentary shuttle bus runs once an hour but is very straightforward. If you're arriving on a late flight and feeling a bit peckish, your only options for food in the immediate vicinity is the 7/11 down below, as there is no room service after 10pm and the restaurant has also closed by then. The hotel is directly connected to Tung Chung station and it is a 30 min trip on the MTR to city centre. I was impressed with the room. Everything had a very quality feel to it - the doors are the heaviest and thickest i've experienced in a hotel! Entering the room/bathroom each time felt like opening a vault.

The executive lounge is a great space and has outstanding views across to the airport and i got carried away watching the constant stream of 747's taking off. Between 5pm and 7pm is coughtail hour and there is a substantial offering of 4-5 hot items along with cold cuts, cheeses and deserts. Alcoholic options were limited but there's something to please everyone. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant and is a pretty standard buffet with an egg station. Not much to fault from this stay and i would definitely return.

I stayed here earlier in the year and one noteworthy thing is the lounge has alcohol (beer/wine) during all opening hours but then this is upgraded to include some spirits and sparkling between 5-7pm.

My final stay to push me over the line to Platinum was a bit of a funny one. I initially booked a superior room which was $785 at the time of booking 5 days before the stay. I then found the same room on booking.com for $440 so submitted a best price claim. The Accor customer service response honoured it (but gave me the wrong email for the hotel). I then emailed the hotel to confirm the change but in the meantime (2 days before stay) the $705 rate on a club room opened up so I took that instead and wasn't fussed about the best price claim as this spend would nudge me into platinum territory.

On check in I was informed I was upgraded to a 50th floor suite which was a very pleasant surprise and by far one of the best upgrades I've received at any Accor hotel. The staff were fantastic and although the drinks in the club lounge had a hard finish at 7 (and I only arrived at 6:30) I was still able to pop over to the bar for my welcome drink.

Breakfast was quite tasty and a fairly good spread in the club lounge. Overall a great stay and a great first time in the club lounge here, much better than the one in Adelaide imo although maybe a better breakfast at the restaurant in Adelaide. My only gripe would be that the shower only had 2 temperatures (cold or satanically hot) and very piddly water pressure, though these seem to be more symptoms of the hotels age. The slippers were also much better than the standard ones it seems and among the best we've received in a hotel, competing with some 5 star places in Asia on this front.

I can confirm the water pressure is really really bad. I remember during my last stay, the hot water stopped mid shower for about a minute before randomly coming back.

Yes - I reckon the Sofitel Adelaide is of their highest standard in Australia; but it does require some knowledge of what to use for each service. If at Adelaide, I would definitely do breakfast at the restaurant for a vastly superior experience to the lounge (unless it’s crazy busy at the main restaurant, I suppose), whereas at Sydney Darling Harbour, I would always go to the lounge for b’fast, even if it meant waiting a while for a table, in order to avoid the hordes and associated behaviour at Atelier.

Been staffing issues at Sofitel Adelaide for far too long.
We stay an average of 20-30 nights per year there and it’s a pretty common theme unfortunately

Must be a 50th floor issue. No water pressure issues on the lower floors. This platinum pleb has only been as high as the 48th floor :)
