How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

I was pleasantly surprised as a lowly Accor Silver member to find a card and a complimentary bottle of red wine waiting in my room at Mantra on Little Bourke St, Melbourne.

Wasn’t quite as thrilled to be called an hour after I checked out (by the receptionist who checked me out) asking why I no-showed on my booking, then to be called an hour later to inform me I’d been double-charged (but that they would fix it).

Still, very happy with the hotel and had a pleasant stay.

General comments:
This was an overnight stop while heading south. Check-in was smooth and staff very friendly. The hotel is located on site with a sports club with lots of pokies. The room key is actually also a gaming card that is 'yours to keep!'. From the 2nd floor the rooms were quiet so while the club area was busy it was peaceful in the room.
The hotel is very new, clean and modern. Had dinner in the Italian restaurant - the pasta was great and the pizza big enough to share.
I fondly remember this stay as the points posted within 24 hours.

Excellent room with comfortable bed and large living space. Extra toilet is always handy but the best part of the room is the fantastic views over SYD (even if the weather wasn’t great)
EL open 24hrs and has a small assortment of soft drinks and tea/coffee facilities.
Breakfast was great and a full Buffett set up which is completely self serve. Mrs Jase ordered a Omelette and said it was superb. Excellent stay overall

Great relaxing stay and staff all fantastic. Vaccinations fully enforced at check in. Adults only pool which is always a big plus for us as it’s fantastic to relax by the pool with a coughtail without screaming kids ruining it. Breakfast consisted of a set menu with several really nice options aswell as a good assortment of juices, tea and coffee. Had dinner there on the first night and food was outstanding. Just a very laid back place and as repeat customers I dare say we will be back again soon

We were there last year and had a ball though it was very quiet and some restaurants weren’t open. Definitely try Nu Nu if you get a chance
Most restaurants were open and quite busy. Check in and double vaccination required for all premises and strictly enforced.
Had lunch at Nu Nu and it was excellent. Highly recommend Vivo also

We were scheduled to fly up to CNS and Port Douglas tomorrow, but ended up deferring FNQ plans due to the hotel advising issues with resort servicing, amenities, and local F&B. Glad to see it's not impacted all properties in the region

Quite possibly the worst upgrade there is at this property.
Musty damp smell.
Only reason havent said anything to the front desk, is that the washer/dryer came in handy ( 2 week work trip ) as the wife is accompanying me.

General comments:
The booking - While the hotel shows up on the Accor website there are never any dates available. So while it's part of the Accor group it seems only booking via the hotel's website or directly over the phone would make this one eligible. for accruing status. Luckily, I was able to locate the hotel's website and book. When checking in I made sure they had my membership number.
This was all a valid way to get the points credited but it still was a job to actually get them - I'll get to that in a bit!

The hotel and service - This was a week-long stay in a holiday apartment. The complex is made up of apartments and there seems to be a mixture of holiday makers and owners living there full time. There is no onsite restaurant but a few cafes in the area. It is across the road from the beach and there is a large heated pool that was great to hang out. The gym is located next to the car park and does the job but doesn't have any windows. Parking is allocated to the apartment and is undercover and secure. There is an on-site manager who was very helpful and friendly. He ran through stuff we needed to know about Harvey Bay and his recommendations for the local cafes were spot on. Everything is self-catering so there wasn't too much interaction after that. There is a Canadian restaurant nearby we tried for the novelty value - enjoyed the poutine immensely and regretted the extra calories later!

The apartment - Sorry I didn't take photos. It was a modern self-catering apartment that had everything we needed for a weekly stay - pretty typical of those in the Sunshine or Gold Coast. We were located at the back of the complex so not much of a view. The furnishings were modern and in good condition. The area is reasonably quiet so not much disturbance from noisy neighbours.

While it was a good stay, there were issues with the stay being credited to my All account. Unsurprisingly, nothing posted automatically as it was booked via the hotel's website and I confirmed my membership number was recorded. While I expected I would need to open a case to get the points posted manually I was disappointed to see I needed to wait 8 days before opening a support case. The delay meant that my next stay immediately after Harvey Bay wasn't recognised as Platinum. Frustrating! After opening the case, the stay was credited on my account quite quickly however the dates were incorrect meaning later stays would not be credited - it eventually took 5 weeks to correctly credit this stay.

I was very grateful to be able to book and credit a stay at a hotel that couldn't be booked via the Accor website as the options available in Harvey Bay didn't quite suit us. But it was quite a job to achieve this.
Given this property is a mixture of owners and holiday rentals I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually left the Accor chain - it wasn't able to offer much that aligned to the Accor All programme benefits.

First time staying at Airlie Beach, so wasnt sure on the location of this place, and i paid the price. Just too far out of the "action" for me. Too far to walk to town. Meals and beverages were excellent, and ALL Plus discounts applied. Be a nice place to take and stay with the family.

Welcome drink: 2 bottles of water in room

I came across this new hotel when looking for a place to stay for this years Australian Open. They had a great offer at the time, $250 per night including daily breakfast, 2 coughtails and Movenpicks delicious ice cream parfait.

A few days before my arrival, I received a call from the hotel asking if I need parking. I let them know I would by flying down from Sydney on an early flight, and that the plan was to drop my bags off and return for check-in later in the afternoon. Well, I arrived at the hotel at 10AM to drop off my bags and was told they had a room ready for me. Unexpected, but a great start to the trip.

I really enjoyed this hotel. It opened late last year, so everything is looking very new. The downstairs lobby area is beautiful, particularly between 3:30-4:30 for 'happy hour' where guests can indulge in free sweets and ice cream. The pool was a welcome treat after hours in the scorching heat. Breakfast was decent, with the Holiday Saver package including tea/coffee, a juice, any item from the a la carte menu + sides, a bowl of fruit and a bowl of pastries. Palm Cove seemed a little busier than Cairns, definitely way down than pre_covid.
Loved the coughtail class, and the canapés and drinks in the afternoon
