Hi all,

I have quite a few Amex points which I am hoping to transfer to Singapore Airlines (Kris Flyers).

I need to fly on the 6:05PM Singapore Airlines flight from Sydney to London (via Singapore) on 26th September, arriving at 7:45AM.

How can I:

1) Check Singapore Airlines for point flight availabilities, when my current Kris Points balance is 0? Is the search done through Singapore Airlines website or Kris Flyers website?

2) Do Singapore Airlines/Kris Flyer offer 'Classic Reward' flights like Qantas? A standard points flight on Qantas from Sydney to London (economy) is 210,000 points, while a Classic Reward flight is 60,000 (+ airport taxes). If Singapore Airlines/Kris Flyer do offer this equivalent, where can I find the availabilities?

Thanks everyone

Hello.

Thanks for your reply.

The thing is, I don't even see an option on Singapore Airlines website to search for point flights. I'm also logged into my KrisFlyer account.

don't need points to search, login.
goto 'book trip'
select 'redeem a trip'
if you find what you want, call and ask for hte flight to be put on hold for 2-3 days. transfer your points ASAP, call back and redeem

your flight option in Y is available for 95K KF miles 1 way + AU$101, advantage level.
saver level is waitlist, which is 53k

PeY is also waitlist at 91.5k

Hello.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't understand many of the acronyms you mentioned.

I've only just joined KrisFlyer, so am the lowest tier.

What is "flight option in Y"? And what is advantage level?

I'd prefer to buy a flight for the cheapest amount of points possible (in economy). I presume this is the "saver level"?

Also re: waitlist - when would I find out if I am accepted or not? Isn't that a huge risk?

Thank you!

Y is economy.
Saver level is less points but books out early. Advantage level requires more points, if you are not flexible with your dates etc this a great way to get what you want but you use more points.

If you ring you might be able to waitlist at the saver level and book in the advantage level.. I've never done this so unsure. At least you will have a confirmed ticket

Waitlist could be available I think 1-2wks before departure. There are rules but I don't remember, better to read. I always try and book a confirmed ticket even if it's at advantage level or try other dates etc

The cash price for this flight is only $906 in Skyscanner. If I were you, I'll just buy this ticket in cash and save the points for business class/first class later.

Log on to your krisflyer account on the singapore airlines website. Then use the normal flight booking screen on the singapore airlines homepage and make sure you have selected the option for 'redeem flights'. This will return award avauilability. There are two tiers of awards, the saver and the advantage. Advantage is the same as the Qantas 'any seat' award. But far more reasonably priced. The two tiers are listed on the flight options page.
