Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

Over the past 5 years I’ve stayed over 100 nights at the Perth Hilton as a single occupant and the majority have been single nights and only ever received 1 voucher per night.

What do the PER and MEL vouchers offer?

DT-CNS offer 2 vouchers to me. 1 is for one alcoholic drink (basic beer or house wine) and 1 offers a non-alcoholic drink and a bar snack (selected menu of about 4 items).

Homewood Suite Moab, Utah.
Booked base room
Received- not sure. Maybe an upgrade as it was a corner room and had a proper bedroom.
really liked this place, they do breakfast for all for free, and also Mon-thurs have some sort of evening reception dinner type food (no alcohol). They put up the theme on your fridge and we had an asian night, make your own nachoes and a german one. Overall very impressed.

Property: Hilton Brisbane
Date: Now
Status: Gold
Booked: Base room
Received: Deluxe room. Ie same room, higher floor and better amenities (bath robe and slippers).

Asked about EL access. Told that would be another $50/night. At check-in informed continental buffet or another $10/person for full. MrsDaver6 went for breakfast this morning. No mention of any restrictions and no charge for full buffer. Be interesting to see what happens over the next few days.

Very disappointing upgrade. They made a big deal about it being a higher level (not sure why that's considered such a big deal). Bathrooms really are small at this hotel. Had considered the Marriot due to EL access for gold status there, but location wasn't as convenient. Perhaps next time.

The location is what I like about it as well. Pretty hard to beat IMHO.

Property: DoubleTree Johor Bahru
Date: Feb 2017 (3 nights)
Status: Gold
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: King Guest Room with Executive Lounge

Had buffet breakfast downstairs at Makan Kitchen every day. Self parking in the basement was a cheap RM10 per night.

Property: Hilton Darwin
Date: Oct 20-24 (in exec lounge at present)
Status: Diamond
Booked: King Guest Room
Received: King Executive Room with Executive Lounge

Booked a room also for a person travelling with me who has no status or membership and they received the same upgrade.
Upon booking (had to call to get it done) I received an email saying "as a card member of the Hilton Honors credit card you've earned an upgrade to Diamond status" effective to 31 March 2019. I was comp'd Diamond approx 1 years ago and whilst I have had a few stays was nowhere near 'retaining'. Also, I cancelled the Macquarie Hilton card over 12 months ago.

HH Diamond data points:

Hilton Brussels Grand Palace:
Booked: Twin
Received: Executive room
Rate: 111 Euroish
Comments: hotel under renovation with an inadequate exec lounge. The staff were very unfriendly and the room was quite ordinary tbh. Great location but wouldnt return and actually sent feedback after this stay

Hilton Brussels City
Booked: base
Received: something bigger
Rate: 63
Comments: not as good a location but much better value. Received drink vouchers for bar downstairs and room was much more spacious and near to the north train station for an easy trip to the airport

Hilton Garden Inn London Heathrow
Booked: base room
Received: probably the same with runway views
Rate: 55 Pounds
Comments: Excellent value for money hotel around Heathrow. 5 minute walk from Hatton Cross tube to access all terminals. Staff recognise you and remembered I like runway views for my subsequent stays there. Have not had breakfast as always reverted to BA F and pocketed the points but have heard they do a mean omellete. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay before an early flight or a late arrival.

Incidentally I earned over 3000 HHonors per stay (1 night) with all the bonuses going on so pretty good value in my book

Hilton Florence Metropole:
Booked: base room
Received: Executive room
Rate: 120
Comments: very ordinary location but frequent shuttle to the city which takes about 25 mins depending on traffic does overcome this. The Executive lounge was quite good with great views over the city and surrounds and decent hot food options with only a handful of standard loud Americans occupying the remaining tables.

Hilton Munich City:
Booked: base
Received: Executive room
Rate: 120
Comments: as covered by Boomy this property is undergoing renovations and is not a remarkable property. The location was handy for a flight the following day. The executive lounge was actually not too bad with decent food offerings and drink. Staff were very friendly and helpful as noted and I have my block of Hilton Munich dark chocolate sitting in the fridge still.

The lounge is small and gets easily overcrowded so they had no choice but change the rules (Golds used to get access). There were supposed to be renovations on the 25th floor but the owners keep dallying which is a shame because soon there will be much better accommodation options in the city and I suspect many corporate travelers will choose to stay elsewhere.

As point of reference Marriott rooms are even worse but actually the location isn't bad at all, it's a short walk along the river to the restaurants and bars of Eagle St Pier.

Not sure if you have Accor status but if you want to try another hotel then Sofitel is currently the better option, at least until the Westin and W will open.

The executive lounge is brand spanking new ( as of a month ago)
On checkout
"I'm coming back in 2 weeks and i cant seem to book a suite online, can you look to see if there are any"?
Sir , i shall do the needful! and she did , by the time i got to the airport theres my usual suite

"do you have any feedback for us sir"
Can you start renovating th rooms
Sir you always ask that but now we have the lobby finished we are starting on teh rooms

Hilton KUL
Booked: Twin deluxe x 2
Assigned: Exec deluxe x 2
OLCI indicated King exec, called them to request for twin which was then updated on the booking but on entering the room, we noticed they were king beds in both rooms. Had to make a few phone calls before the beds were redone to the right config. Also, the usual Moet offered during evening canapes seemed to have disappeared, replaced by some cheap sparkling. In my view, the evening canapes have dropped in standard and having had a chance to compare it with DT-KUL, I would say that DT's were far better in terms of choices.

Doubletree KUL
Booked: King Guestroom
Received: King Exec Suite
Had been treated to suite upgrades in all my stays here but this stay was particularly generous considering I used points for the 5 nights. Also received a very nice welcome letter 2 days before check-in asking if I have any special requests, etc which was a nice touch. I think I'll stick with DT-KUL from now on as my preferred in KUL.

I now stay exclusively at the Sofitel for the exact reasons above. Better rates, regular upgrades and a much better lounge (comfort, view, food, drinks, and breakfast). Only shortfall is room service (way too pricey compared to Hilton) but plenty of options relatively nearby.
