Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Hotel: Sydney
Diamond
Date: Sunday 24th Sept.
Booked: guest room plus
Received: deluxe plus

Not really an upgrade worth mentioning except for the room which I had been told about the day before. I was able to select it for OLCI and as there is only one it felt like a decent upgrade considering I was paying under $200 for the night.

Ah, the 3 windows of 4311, best deluxe room in the house, thanks to the configuration of the mega suite next door. I dislike the room due to it facing Pitt St as despite being on 43rd floor, one could still hear the garbage truck in the morning when it empties the glass bottles.

Conrad SIN is indeed undergoing renos. Not sure what they look like myself, parents can report back in Nov. Word from FT is don't stay there currently, and they don't like the rooms so far. But we shall see...

Can't say the level of comfort looks that good.

Hotel: Lake Taupo

Only got a single drink voucher, coffee tax and no upgrade. At least the Amex $120 credit kicked in to sweeten things a little.

I quite like the hotel, but their treatment of status guests and general attentiveness (or lack thereof) of the staff would have to be close to the worst of the Asia/Pacific hotels in the Hilton chain. At least you got a drinks voucher, we didn't even get that!

Received email from Conrad Bali advising of imminent renovations from Nov 1st to Aug 31st next year. Looking at the map, the main pool, lobby and Suku restaurant will be affected as well as the South Wing. Hope that will increase the chance of upgrades to Conrad Suites during the peak christmas/new year period. :)

Interesting. I wonder if they're expanding Suku as it gets pretty busy at breakfast and dinner times.

That was the feeling I got too when we stayed there a few years ago.

DT-CNS have decided to restrict breakfast hours. No problem, but just a hint to management there, don't give your guests false info!

I turned up on a Sat morn at 09.30, only to be told if I hurry, there still might be some left as breakfast closes at 09.30 I advised that it didn't, because I specifically checked the welcome/info sheet that was handed to me just the night before, which ststed10.00 as breakfast finish, to which the attendant replied, oh, this is new ... We just started the change today! Err, so? Breakfast finishes at 10.00! Apparently not as they continued to clean everything away as quick as they could and I couldn't even squeeze (pun intended) an orange juice out of them. Whilst I Sat there with my meagre scraps, I noticed many others turning up for breakfast.

Poor effort DT-CNS. Add this fiasco to your refusal to replace the broken down coffee machine and it's making you look very pathetic.

Property: Hilton Munich City
Booked: King Guestroom
Rate: €200 ($AU300)
Received: King Executive (Corner Room)

Let's start with the good:

Great location, right above the train station, easy access from airport.
Staff are all extremely nice and helpful.
Large specious rooms (at least the one I got).

Now for the less good:

The hotel is undergoing renovations which started in June and will take at least 18 months. While I couldn't hear any disturbing noise the hotel looks like a construction site and has far less rooms available which means higher rates and far less premium rooms which are being renovated first.
Small chance to get suite upgrades even as diamond, not because they don't want but they barely have any left.
Rooms old and dated. While my room was larger than usual it had those ugly cream colours that was popular in the 80's and bathroom was small and dated.

Can't comment about the executive lounge as I missed happy hour but I can say it's not located in the usual place is not in an enclosed area at the end of the restaurant on ground floor. Breakfast was ok, nothing special.

In conclusion, unless getting discounted rate I'd recommend avoiding this hotel until renovations are finished. There are two more Hiltons in Munich, one at the airport and another next to the English Garden which looks better but not as convenient to reach from airport.

Wonder if they will try to enclose at least part of suku? I really enjoy Conrad Bali tbh.

Also- conrad NY
base room on points
upgraded to deluxe suite or river view suite (my choice) even though fully booked out. For the river suite needed to have the deluxe 1 night then move, that was how full they were. Massive security and secret service prescence due to an islamic forum with the head of Qatar present. Not an issue for guests, however.

Hotel: Sydney
Diamond
Date: Friday 6th October.
Booked: King Executive Room, double points package
Received: Junior Suite plus the obligatory 2 bottles of water

Nice upgrade to a junior suite, executive lounge was good, had breakfast at the Glass, cold food was good, cooked buffet not so (most of it cold).

H-PER
"Simpler and fairer" have come to roost here. Not sure if it's the staff or it's the new norm but I used to receive 2 drinks voucher a nite (even DT-Mel) but was only given 1. Then at the restaurant, ordered the usual coughtail but was told that's no longer part of the deal, only house wine, beer or soft drinks. Double whammy! Really disappointing if this is now the standard of H-PER. Wrote feedback, hope they would seriously reconsider.

On the positive side, breakfast was a delight. Jono is just the king of customer service.

How many guests were booked for your room? If only one, should put down they you have two. I'd expect that to get you two drink vouchers then.

Few stays as Gold in KL over F1 weekend (late September/early Oct)

Note all stays including two prepaid months ago got hit with the new 10 MYR (A$3 non-Malaysian tax). From an FT thread this is also being charged to Award stays

Hilton Petaling Jaya
Booked - Base Guestroom under Asia Sale
Received - Exec Floor
Unfortunately arrived at 8pm and canapes and drinks only 6-8pm. Did get a few things remaining aalnd a soft drink.
Breakfast downstairs in the main restaurant very good.

DoubleTree KL
Booked - Base Guestroom under Asia Sale
Received - So called Deluxe (basically a HHonors /high floor room that a Silver would likely get)
No real upgrade and they wanted to charge (MYR128/190++ different each time I asked to upgrade to Exec, despite electronic sins saying Deluxe-Exec upgrade was MYR50).
Also saw I elected points instead of breakfast and made note of this.

DoubleTree KL
Booked - Base Guestroom HH rate
Received - Deluxe
Same as above. Didn't ask about upgrades as heading out to dinner and early departure.

I've logged 10+ stays at DT KL over the years, and upgrade policy has gradually gotten poorer.

Property: Hilton Adelaide
Date: Saturday, early October, one night.
Status: Diamond
Booked: Deluxe Room
Received: Junior King Suite.

Another short stay, but much better this time.

Did online check-in morning before and had already secured an Executive room upgrade. Later requested a suite if available and was granted one, confirmed before arrival. It is a nice suite, especially the bathroom.

Two bottles of water in room but no other gifts or welcome note.

Got met in taxi and assisted with bags on arrival, and had assistance on departure as well. First time in recent stays.

Lounge fine as usual. Actually had breakfast and it too was pretty good. I like it that the staff make the juices for you. Coffee tax imposed, but a coffee machine was available for general use.

My booking has always been for 1 guest at H-PER and DT-MEL and have always received 2 x vouchers per night. It was only this recent trip that H-PER decided to reduce this to only one voucher this time. If I had asked for another, I'm sure it would have been given. I was more disappointed with the reduced selection of drinks in actual fact.
