Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

A fairly decent response, I would have thought - save for the fact the gentleman can't spell the name of the loyalty program (it's HHonors, not Honors).

Note that the NOR1 process generally works against elites.

Just booked a stay at The Trafalgar and the NOR1 upgrade for Gold to next room category is set at 0 GBP.
Seems at least for this hotel that they have amalgated the HHonors and NOR1 together.
Stay isn't until next year so won't know if it's successful

HH Diamond
Hilton Sydney
Date:28 October
Rate: $199
Room booked: King Guestroom
Received: King Relaxation

Welcome card, two bottles of water, box of yoyo buscuits.

Offered free breakfast in Glass.

Amazing hotel, staff and brekkie. I'm totally impressed.

the new Surfer's hilton is great!! booked 3 rooms for 1 night( had a meeting and had 2 non HHonors mates comingto same meeting) V8 races were on but got an excellent rate. Check in was very slick and from someone who'd never worked in a Hilton before. Each room had a welcome bucket of beer (on ice) and all 3 had lounge access - great staff, lovely service. Check out was at front desk as lounge wasn't able to until next week but the morning staff were again Hilton novices but again excellent... also i forgot cufflinks and the 'boys' were able to find some for me... happily go back again and again.:D:D

We were there at the same time. Bizarre they weren't full during the GC600. I think our rate was $256.

Has anyone else receive their Hhonors card? It's the ugliest membership card I possess.

Checked in last night at HOP. Received absolutely nothing, not even executive room upgrade, complimentary water etc.

I asked the guy at check in regarding room upgrade and he told me he had put me in an Executive room. I queried again because I know Executive room are located on L17 and 18, he then said because he had given me executive lounge access, I am thus considered to be in an executive room. He further stated that all room at HOP, excluding suites, are the same (even though they clearly have a Deluxe room which is more expensive). I did score a late check out today though for 3PM.

For the price I paid, I could have gone to Westin but decided to show some loyalty to Hilton. Bad choice I suppose.

I gave my feedback to HOP regarding my stay via the online survey, and was surprised to receive an email the next day (a Saturday) from the Assistant Front Desk Manager to apologise for what happened. It seems like they have upgraded me to a Deluxe room but that was not communicated to me well. Nonetheless, she offered to comp upgrade to relaxation suite next time I visit.

On Monday, the Front Desk Manager actually called me and again apologise and asked me to contact him whenever I am staying next. A very good gesture I believe and definitely will be going back the next time.

It seems like they have upgraded me to a Deluxe room

I very often bump into the "Hilton King" versus the "Hilton King Deluxe" and at most properties its not even a bit obvious what the difference really is ... are these "Deluxe" rooms generally higher up the tower and thats why one pays a premium to get one? Other than that possibility they seem to usually be the same size, with same amenities/etc.

Melb. HOP was a ripper before the benefits were standardised world wide a few years ago. (Before then non North American properties could avoid exec access for Diamond and breakfast for Golds).

A few times my 'upgrade' was a to room with a bathrobe and slippers.

I sent an email to the Adelaide Hilton asking for photos of their different suite types, as they only have one photo on their website. The response I got from the property was:

Dear Mr Jock28,

Thank you for your email.

Kindly be advised that you can access the majority of pictures on the Hilton website, www.hilton.com

Kind regards,

xx_X

Needless to say I won't be booking a suite for my upcoming stay. To think in house reservations wouldn't provide the photos, and provide the hotel chain's website rather than the individual property's is really poor practice.

I really don't think Hilton is working out for me. Other than in cities where no *wood or Hyatt properties exist, Hilton won't be considered.

Due to the Qantas closure I had a late booking at HSW last Saturday night.

$350 - 20% = $280.

I sent in a feedback form for a few very minor issues and since then have had a ring from the reservations manager so that our next booking is now a two bedroom apartment.

As usual the lounge staff were exceptional and looked after me magnificently despite having a room full of drunken racing patrons.

Jock28,

I have the contact detail of the Adelaide Hilton Business Development Manager if you want them. The response seems out of character from my experience but nothing really surprises me much any more.

Jock28, I had an issue and got the contaact details from straitman for the Director of Business Development. He was excellent and fixed my problem very promptly.

I think I can safely say that he'll be VERY unhappy that your query was summarily dismissed. Sounds like a Gen Y answered your query and wasn't aware (or make themselves aware) of your status and didn't twig to the reason behind your query.

I've got photo's of the Junior Suite that I posted in this thread - I think they are still here (or on my iPhone).
