in november 2010 i had approx 40,000 points expire. i did not get the letter until several days ago and as soon as i did i called the frequent flyer program to try sort it out. they confirmed the email they also sent bounced so they agree i didnt get that either. the people i spoke to were nice enough including their managers or senior service people but the rules they told me about show alot of service wanting. even though i didnt get the letter, nor the email and had flown qanta2 years ago (within the 3 year period which still applies to me) they were all adamant even upon calling several times that under no circumstances can i get the points back. even banks who as aussies we all hate will reverse fees again and again without question. i had flown qantas specifically to get those 40k of points numerous times and still they dont care. doesnt matter what excuses or reasons you may have they dont want to listen if the points have expired there is 0 avenue to get them back no matter what the curcumstances. if you havent flown or been in a hotel in last 12 months thats it they say good bye and goe away. this is no way to treat members. obviously they dont care about their members and just want to screw people. i have now been told this matyer has been dealt with and they will no longer speak to me about this. needless to say i am very upset and on principle will not give up. will go to many blogs (where the administrators wont remove me) and complain and make my own blogs, keep calling them to complain no matter how many times they hang up (did over 10 so far and battery died but plan many more) and am looking into other ways to preotest. ofr course i have better things to do with my time but on principle its now a personal vendetta. what a gorrible way to treat customers. anyone who reads this post please take care and warning that the frequent flyer program dont want to give good service or be seen in a good light by its customers. all they are interested in is taking away your points when they can and then not listening or helping you at all afterwards. needless to say i wont ever fly them again, nor my family and will be telling everyone i know when qantas or flying is brought up for the rest of my life. would love for them to give the points back but it seems they just want to screw people. a shame because the airline while having some issues like any other airline seems to try and bend ove4r backwards to make you happy most of the time. too bad their own points program doesnt care about you at all.

I hesitate to say anything because you are obviously pretty upset. But if you can sit for a moment and consider:

- Your proposed behaviour won't change anything, its a form of abuse which may make you feel better but might land you in some sort of legal trouble. In any event, won't help you except to let off steam.

- If you really feel that you have a case, take QFF to court in a civil action. Civil actions can be brought by anyone against anyone. Yes, the action may well be immediately dismissed, but you will get a hearing. If there is something to your claim, aside from disappointment then you have the chance of redress which will not only make you feel better but will actually achieve a positive outcome.

Venting like this on a public forum in a loud and emotional way will just frighten the people you are speaking to and not endear them to your cause.

Best regards - Moopere

i dont see what legal trouble there is for going to a blog pon the subject i am talking about and blogging i am upset about what actually happened. plus as for nothing will change, i am sending these blogs now to correct feedback areas of qantas and head office to show them that i am upset and agry and will continue to folloow other means until they do change things for me. seeing it wont be oublic i do expect it to work. but yeah what legal avenue is there if they are not happy?????????? an unhappy customer went to normal place to complain and is complaining about what actually happened? how would you fight me in court exactly???? not trying to endear the readers to me. just make qantas unhappy about what i am doing here and on some other blogs

I'm very confused. You are going to all this effort over 40,000 points which expired as per the terms and conditions of the program??

If it were $40,000...... I could understand!!

You are hardly a massive loss to QANTAS if that is your flying pattern with them!

I don't blame you for feeling angry..... However.... Just move on!! Life is way too short.

I am now going to close this thread. The OP obviously has the wrong website! (Complaints should be directed to the airline, not AFF which is not associated with any airline)
