What hotel is that?

Four Seasons Pool

What you can't see in the photo - a lower level infinity pool at the harbour end & a very chilly plunge pool to get you set for the relaxing hot whirlpool.

The harbour view is breathtaking.....as is the pool scene;)

Hi Flyers,

I'm currently looking for a HK hotel for 2 nights at the end of my honeymoon before heading home. We will be doing tourist stuff like the peak and shopping and a food tour etc so want to be in a good spot near MTR.

Anyone ever stayed at the Grand Hyatt on the island side? If so just want to know if it's now a bit dated or still a proper 5 star hotel? I can get great corp rates there that's all and it looks like it's in a good spot.

Is MongKok where all the dodgey electronics shops are? Wouldn't mind showing the future wife around there for a bit of entertainment so the langham there is an option too.

CANT DECIDEEEEE whether island side or kowloon but i think the answer is it doesnt really matter if close to MTR station.

Thanks in advance.

Langham is a very good central place and show the unique side of Hong Kong. I personally wouldn't stayed at Wan Chai Hotels as there is really not much to walk about, but rather stayed at Central if you prefer the Hong Kong side. Having said that, MTR is just a short walk from most hotels in HK.

Grand Hyatt IIRC had a reno only about 18 months ago, so it should be pretty updated.

In terms of electronics you have a choice of Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po or Wan Chai - for the most 'local' experience I would go Sham Shui Po as it has street markets in addition to the computer centres.

Golden Computer Arcade!!! Exit D2 at Sham Shui Po.

Langham place. Get a club level room. Normally have 3 nights for price of 2 specials. My wife loved it. Electronics for you. Markets and massage for her. Right on top of MTR if you need to get around.
Get down to the aqua bar at TST before 8p for coughtails and the light show over the harbour. Aqua Restaurant Group ? Hong Kong, Beijing, London I haven't eaten there but looks fantastic.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt a few years ago because it was close to the convention centre. Wan Chai has alot of the red-light bars but is close to the mid-levels (not bad for shopping and restuarants) and the peak trams.

Trip report of course.

Cheers.

Last time I stayed in Hong Kong in September 2009 hotels were cheap and I was able to stay at the Oriental Lander hotel for ~AUD40/night. That hotel is now ~AUD160/night.

What has happened to Hong Kong hotel prices?

I was going to redeem an award at the Holiday Inn Soho but that has disappeared as well now.

Any suggestions of cheap hotels (<AUD100/night) I may have missed. Not hostels or guesthouses. I arrive into HKG at ~10:00pm and depart at ~8:00am so looks like a night at the airport unless I can find cheap availability between now and early October.

Rambler on tsing yi, needs a short taxi from the tsing yi airport express station but they are best value these days particularly for transit stopover. Same group as Harbour plaza.

The mainland visitors have sent the hotel prices sky high.

No availability on the night I want.

Looks like a night at the airport. Trying to work out how I can spend some time in transit airside with a flight the next day. Either that or get a later flight out of SIN.
