Jan issue just showed up. wow not even 20th Dec. I've not opened but the headline "The 21 BEST travel experiences of 2021" may prove dull of they mention the trip to the local supermarket or something :D

Anyway I guess it came early for Christmas reading-ish?

Yep, got mine today too. After not feeling the love for most of lockdown, I now have the last three.

bonus "South Australia - State of Wonder" add-on o at the back. Well that's some reaction to the recent issues there I guess.

I'm now in the QF lounge in BNE and noticed the December magazine in the bin, still in the clear plastic...

I am guessing I am not the only one who received the survey about the QF mag to do.

Basically it was about if (and how much) I read the mag when posted to me.. if anyone else read it.. if I thought the articles inspired travel etc and if I'd purchase more from partners when they had "joint venture" articles (a.k.a. paid promotions as I would call it).

Interestingly one question was around when travel gets back to normal and the QF mag is once again in lounges and on board would I still want it delivered.

not the most inspiring survey but makes sense to ask the qeustions.

I'm amazed Qantas is still printing a magazine at all!

I suspect this survey serves two purposes:
  1. The magazine is probably facing an existential crisis and they're wondering how/whether to proceed going forward
  2. They want to collect data on how effective the magazine advertising is so they can show this to potential advertisers (if it helps their case)

Interestingly, I recently received a survey from The Economist (which I subscribe to) asking very similar questions including whether I read the ads, whether they influence my purchasing decisions, etc.

Magazine and print business is tend to be in decline even in aircraft, as they are competing with tablets

February magazine is already on the shelves... Guess which lounge?

February magazine is already on the shelves... Guess which lounge?

You gave up the answer to quickly, it was the same set up in the first week of Dec but the QF magazine was the 100 year edition.

OT when I saw you photo I knew exactly what lounge this was and could most likely describe where you took the picture from, the vertical shadow in the reflection is the column in the middle of the dining area that has the TVs on 2 sides. I do not take a lot of interest in lounges however I have been in through this lounge at least once to twice a week for the past 6-7 years it is one I know. At ADL I do not think I have shown my QF card, boarding pass to gain entry for around 5 years, the lounge staff seem to consider me as part of the furniture.

Now completely OT, knowing many of the ADL lounge staff when I was there in Dec and I enquired who had survived the QF cut backs, the good news was most are still lounge staff, some have gone back to flying, 1 accepted redundancy as after working for QF for 40 odd years and was planning to retire in 20/21 a timing bonus and best of luck.

Back OT I have not received the Feb edition but I am sure it will arrive.

Yes but I figured the answer can already be easily found here:
