the Sim2Fly cards

I am arriving in HKG from BKK on Friday Night. I have not used the Sim2Fly cards. Are they just something I can pick up over the counter or do I need to provide my details.

If it is just as simple as picking up some Sim cards I could mostly like get some for you.

Are you exiting the BKK airport? The TG lounge staff informed me that the counter is after the immigrations, I was only transiting then so failed miserably. Anyway, I’ll bring the packaging to show you tonight at Buzz’s dinner. I think there’s another AFFer there who is also interested.

Yes I will be entering BKK, I am flying ICN-BKK on 5 Jun then back to HKG on 8 Jun.

Hi All, I happen to be departing from HKG to MEL on the 10 Jun 2018 flying VA86 at 7:50pm but i'm only Silver Status. However, after this flight will be Gold.

Anyone flying Virgin that day?

Hi jhchui,

it just so happens I will also be travelling on VA86 to MEL on 10th June. I currently hold VA WP and will be travelling with my partner who holds VA SG. So we can guest you into either of the Honk Kong Airlines VIP Lounges. (not visited them before).

We "Accidentally" double booked ourselves onto KA712 HKG-NNG which departs at 17:55 both of us are QF WP so if same flight rules aren't strict can guest 2 (1 each) into OW lounges.

To be clear - we will be checking in to both VA86 and KA712 - but will decide which flight to cancel "later" in the afternoon ;)

@JessicaTam - please count me in for this one. It has been a while since i've caught up with fellow AFFers!

The Hong Kong lounge used for VA is "Club Autus" at the "Midfield Concourse" - a Satellite terminal to the West of the main building, only reachable by train.

I could not discern a ready way back to the main building.

That's annyoying. I wonder if we'd be allowed into Club Bauhinia in Terminal 1. I've caught the train to the far end of Terminal 1 and there didn't appear to be a train back - I had to walk.

The maps aren't very clear about this either.

I don't suppose we've got anyone flying out of the MidField Concourse (MFC) before Jun 10 who can try to find out?

Confirmed

09/06 MH 432 KUL-HKG
10/06 MH 433 HKG-KUL / 18:35 depart

As I will be using my QF# for lounge access, I can only guest into Business lounges.
Plaza Premium can +1
Amex can +1
Quite a fall from Platinum One? ;) We have more than enough Platinums to be able to guest everyone.

You could always go for a look and then plead ignorance whilst waving your KA BP. :)

Either suggested location looks OK to me. I suggest that doing in on Sunday may be detrimental to the "lounge crawl experience" as the lounge crawl involves substantial eating (and drinking) and I tend to save myself for the afternoon by taking only a very light snack for breakfast/lunch on the day. Saturday works for me and it could be worked in around some tourist stops for Ewing if interested. Alternatively Stanley by bus is a great couple of hours but usually involves having a meal and a couple of beers, so conflicts with having a Yum Cha. I am totally flexible.

Good point. Let's make it Saturday and I'll work around it :)

As I haven't yet booked outbound flights, QF97 is now the favoured outbound chariot on Saturday 09 June thanks to Qantas 50% award special.

I will more than likely head off to Macau for the night and return the next day to HKG on a ferry around midday. And knowing me I wouldn't rule out a casino crawl Saturday night.

P.S. For those doing the ferry on Sunday don't forget to get a refund of the departure tax (~HKG120) as you are now transitting HKG.

Just found this thread.

I am in HKG that weekend, so that will make 4 AFF'ers travelling back on VA86 on 10/6 - quite the co-incidence! I am also a VA WP, but QF nothing, so I will have to give the wider visit a miss, I think.

Haven’t done the lounge run via Cathay Dragon before so thought I should ask before booking. Besides the EK lounge, are there any other lounge restrictions like QF, etc?

A QF lounge run and an alternate a different one!

alternate

At the risk of being sent to the grammar thread, an alternative lounge run.

An alternate lounge run would see us go between OneWorld and another alliance's lounges and back again.

We can go on the OneWorld lounge run or alternatively visit the other alliance's lounges.

You should have access to all the Oneworld lounges including QF as Cathay Dragon are an affiliate member of Oneworld.
