Hiya :) Newbie with a stupid Q.

Hi all.
I've read a number of forums on this website and finally decided to become a member 8)

Now, as I'm a newbie, don't be too harsh - my question is pretty stupid actually, lol.

I have a flight booked to LHR from SYD (return) on QF. Now, My e-ticket has been printed, but I have noticed that premium economy has only JUST become available on my return flight.

I only want to upgrade one leg of my flight (LHR - SYD). Is this even possible? It is not possible to pay for an upgrade after the e-ticket has been printed is it? I paid through a travel agent, so I would have to go through her...

Is your flight points upgradeable [ie is it a super cheap flight]? If you have the points this may be a way to upgrade. Otherwise, I'd ask your travel agent what she can do.

I have only just joined the QF FF programme, so have no points available atm. I was wanting to pay for the upgrade on one leg. I just wanted to see if it is usually possible...

In that case you will need to go back to your TA and see what they can do.

I suspect you original fare can be put towards a newer one less a change penalty of $100+. You will need to ante up for any fare difference and additional TA costs.

I was hoping about $1000 or under, but knowing what qantas is like, that was probably waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay under the mark, lol.

I'm guessin something like $2000 now.
Probably not worth it at all.
I asked my agent anyway. She should get back to me soon-ish.
Doubt it's gonna happen then, lol.

$1000 is in the ball park for one-way - if it can be done like that.

Note that Qantas Premium Economy is generally MUCH more expensive than discount Economy (e.g. $2200 return MEL-LHR against $4600 PE)

Generally fares can't be upgraded on only one way (ie Y-J), but I know on RTW fares you can upgrade that leg to Y+, but I suspect its going to be an all or nothing affair when it comes to a point to point.

I'd still suggest that you ask the question. The worst answer will be NO which is what you now expect.

I have received a response.
You cannot pay for a one-way upgrade only.

That wont stop me asking how much one will be at check-in, lol.

Never flown QF international economy. hope they're ok, lol.

Just so you've got a rough idea what it's worth, on the Round World Global Explorer fares, between Australia and Europe, its A$1100 each way to upgrade.
