Thanks Fiona, it was a paid stay booked through HHonors. I will follow up the Doubletree that posted as zero as well.

I find that HH consistently has errors and needs to be monitored for those errors.

Ok, lengthy chat with Hhonors customer support today. Grand Vacations points ho to a GV account first, and are then transferred to Hhonors. She asked whether i had a GV account, to which i said 'not to my knowledge'. Request now in.

The other stay raised an interesting gotcha - if you checkout of a Hilton and check into another one on the same day, the first doesn't count because the system thinks it's impossible. Stupid system i say. So another ticket raised for that one.

Ah, everyone expected to rough it in the gutters for a night between, eh? Another note, tickets can only be raised after five working days. System rejects them before that.

Not good for you. However, I've stayed at many Hiltons where I've checked in to another that day and then another the next, etc, etc, and have never experienced that problem. It would not seem to be a system-wide error.

Theoretically, you will be gold but I'd be interested in the outcome (and the date you get on the new card.....presumably Mar 2015).

Just got back from the US where I stayed at 3 different Hilton properties over an 8 day period...while my on line status still showed as diamond even after the March 31 2013 exp date, when I arrived at the first Hilton in Santa Barbera they informed me that my status had gone down to silver.

I then rang the Hhonors desk and explained that I had an email from hhonors comping me gold HH status via VA...while the agent could not see this in her system (it still showed silver) she took the decision to upgrade me to gold.

The silver HH card was waiting for me when I got back to the office today...so I assume the gold card will follow in due course, the silver expiry is March 2014 not 2015.


I was then able to go back to the front desk who recheck my status which now showed me as gold and therefore I was given the relevent benes at all properties.

Um.. I checked out from a Hilton and checked into a different Hilton on the same day for at least 5 occasions in the last few weeks. Did not have any similar problem.

I was status matched by VA to Plat in September 2011 and therefore became an HH Diamond with an expiery date of March 2013.

As this HH status is about to expire and my VA status has dropped to gold, I have assumed that there is no soft landing with HH so I applied for HH gold through VA.

I recieved the email yesterday saying congrats you have been given HH gold...not sure if I have shot myself in the foot but it will be interesting to see what my on line status with HH says on April 1, I am assuming gold.

This is impotant as I have a series of Hilton stays booked for April and I am keen to have some status benefits.​

Hmmm interesting. Bit of a loophole still there - i have stayed VA WP through requal, so of course my HHonors VA deal with Diamond ran out, and i dropped to Silver. Doesn't really make sense that if you reduce your VA status you get a higher HH status, but thems the breaks...

Clearly no soft landing in Hhonors for me. I was VA comped Gold expiring 03/13, and a Blue card turned up in the mail yesterday. Blue! I threw that one straight in the bin.

...of course my online status is still showing Diamond courtesy of a VA WP offer I triggered a month back

Just curious, after you signed up did you get an immediate email from Velocity advising:

"We are pleased to confirm that you have selected to receive a complimentary 6 month membership into the Diamond Elite tier of the Hilton HHonors™ program."

Am I mistaken, I seem to recollect my gold lasting 12 months?

The issue of the Blue would have been triggered by the expiry of Gold which lasted from September 2011 through March 2013. But triggering the Diamond gave me a card with an expiry of March 2015, however the online account status may not stick it out that long, we will see.

Finally received the gold card yesterday and yes EXP 03/2015...not bad for a status match, comped in Sept 2011 - 18 months Diamond HH membership & 24 months Gold!
