hi guys

i got comped HH Diamond when i reached platinum in Jan 2013. my diamond card has a march 2015 expiry date on it but when i log into my honours account, it reads: Based on stays earned this year, your 2014 tier would be Blue. (3 stays so far)

i remember reading somewhere in the forum that if you do 4 stays in first 6 months then it gets extended for another 6 months? does that still stand true?

The expiry on your card is the one that matters, the website is a generic message.

Any idea as to when new cards should be sent out to replace those with March 2013 expiries?

I can't answer the question about the replacement cards but with a few exceptions I don't even carry them anymore, I keep my numbers all recorded on my 'device'. Either it's in the system or it's not. I can't remember the last time anyone actually wanted to see one of my loyalty cards. Some things like Priority Pass are different.

The qualification year is January to December but it covers the period April to March. If you are listed as Diamond it is valid until 30 March which ever year.

Don't worry about the card so long as the web has it right.

SPG status is based on a calendar year. But the status remain valid until 28 February. (At least that's how it works for me).

It's been quite some time since I've read up on this, but my understanding is that the complimentary HH Diamond for VA Platinums was technically only meant to be valid for 6 months, with an offer to extend the Diamond status if you have 4 stays in that first 6 months.

However, it seems many Plats (myself included) were given the full membership period straight away (Diamond for the rest of that year, the whole of the following year, and through March of the year after that) without first meeting that 4 stays requirement. If your Diamond card has a March 2015 expiry date, it seems you were also granted the status for the full period.

If you did not receive on, you can request one be sent to you using hhonors.com.

You can call and ask when your expiry date is, if it is March 2013, it's a bit late

Don't think the change affected the non-display of the expiration date....

True - the expiration date of status has not been readily avialable on line since the demise of the "Rolling Tier" philosophy last decade.

You can call asn ask when your expiry date is, if it is March 2103, it's a bit late

If I could get a 2103 dated card, I'd be happy to be "too late" .........I think I'd be the "late" mr swanning_it, well before I was "too late"!

The card would become an heirloom!

Ditto. Over the last year tried requesting a replacement card online a couple times to no avail. I haven't received anything by post from Hilton since last downgrade to Blue a couple of years ago...

A 2014 exp of Diamond will be a pleasant surprise. Otherwise, I might consciously drop VA WP to SG and back to WP to get another run of Diamond!

I was fully expecting to only get 6 months but after attaining Platinum in December 2012, I put in for the comp HH Diamond and my card says March 2015 expiry...so fingers crossed that's the legit expiry date!

I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that I already had the comp HHonors Gold, then upgraded it to Diamond when I hit Platinum?

Anyway, been enjoying it so far in any case

But after making VA Plat I pulled the trigger on Diamond in Feb and still received an HHonors card with a March 2015 expiry. And as a result, Hilton are now getting a lot of my business.

Yep exactly what happened to me and I agree, Hilton has already gotten 5 stays with me out of it as a result this year. Actually spoke to an agent today to book a room for a mate and she confirmed that my status was valid until the end of March 2015

Another few days and we should know if the card dates are fact or fiction. If I stay at diamond, the card can be believed, if I drop to gold (as per my earning from 2012 calendar year), so be it.
